By the way, I've read of deep fried tamales, but never seen them or eaten one. A tamal in a spit bolillo (hard roll) is common street fare for breakfast in Mexico City.

How are you supposed to get your mouth around that?

I agree bixa. In fact, I think the poutine looks divine - all it needs is a little sour cream. Oooh and some jalapenos!

The Primanti Brothers Sandwich! I've actually been wanting to try one of these, but every time I'm in Pittsburgh I'm with some health nut types. Being born in England, the yearning for the "chip butty" is in my blood.

Do my eyes deceive me, or is that Primanti Bros. sandwich made with really nice bread?

What are the ingredients besides the fries, and are the fries made with some special seasoning?

Looks good!

My much older cousin used to tell of potato po boys in New Orleans, although I don't remember ever seeing them for sale anywhere. Here's one thing a little internet research uncovered: http://chezpim.typepad.com/blogs/2005/09/gourmet_survivo.html. (<-- fun blog, by the way) But can that be right? I'm positive the real potato po' boy is a glorious melding of fried (but not french fries) potatoes and roast beef gravy. *sigh* Guess I'll just have to experiment at home.

We call it "pop" where I live. There used to be 2 local low-cost, many flavour, bottles only soft drink outlets in town - Pic-a-Pop and The Pop Shoppe.
