A day in Singapore

Last year, my husband and I went on a two week trip to Thailand and had a layover for a little more than a day in Singapore on the way back home. Here are a few photos.
After a good night's sleep, we had breakfast at the nearest food court. The meals there were both cheap and delicious.
I noticed that if you purchase cigarettes in Singapore, you need to have a high tolerance for repulsive images.
We visited the Singapore Zoo, where I was able to feed rhinos, giraffes, and elephants. It was fun and something that definitely isn't allowed in the zoos back home.
It's a big, sprawling zoo with tons of beautiful animals. Here’s a few of my favorites (I won’t bore you with the millions of photos I took).
After hours of walking, I decided to take advantage of the zoo’s “fish therapy” for feet. As soon as I slipped my feet into the tank, a swarm of nibble fish started nibbling away. It didn’t hurt, but it was such a strange, startling sensation!
I attracted a curious onlooker.
On the suggestion of a friendly taxi driver we had earlier, we decided to head to Little India next, where we ate lunch and browsed the colorful shops. We also saw the wonderfully ornate Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, dedicated to the fearsome Hindu goddess Kali.
That’s her, with the skull belt and severed body parts.
We did some shopping at a mall, then walked around the inside of Marina Bay Sands. At nightfall, we took a leisurely stroll on the helix-shaped bridge and admired the gorgeous view.
Instead of paying for another night at our hotel, we opted to roam the city all night until it was time to catch our 6 am flight. We took our time relaxing with some drinks at a (regrettably pricey) bar on the water. Late at night we had another delectable meal at a random food court. And that’s about it. We had a great time and hope to be back one day.

The animal pictures are too adorable & the last two, of the night city, just beautiful.
I don't know how well a place's "friendly quotient" can ever be determined, though, since it's in the eye of the beholder. For example, I think NYC is reasonably friendly. Yet I have friends who complain that they've never had a nice taxi driver, whereas I seem to get them on a regular basis. So either I'm naive or my friends are pain-in-the-neck grouches.
