It had to be done, Gyro. I am surprised that a citybreak would be cheaper than France.
Portugal used to be good value for hols and a low cost of living.

Flights : £265 for all 4 of us
Accommodation: £58 per night for a 4 bed room/apartment in relativelyu central Vienna
Yurp, that'd be cheaper than La Rochelle, plus we can maybe squeeze in a visit to Bratislava too.

I just hope that the weather in Vienna will be nice then. It should be, but you never know for sure.

As opposed to the GUARANTEE it would be good weather in France ?
But I'm not Australian, so weather isn't the be-all and end-all anyway, to be fair.

Where are you staying in Vienna? I'm planning to go there to study German and drink good coffee and white wine, and will have to look for some kind of cheap lodging where I can prepare at least rudimentary meals.
I have friends there, but they live in typical small flats, and doubt they want me around for a month.

Lauria Apartments. They have their own website, or you can find them on travellerspoint. Basic, but good enough to stay, by the looks of it. I begrudge paying much for accommodation as I only sleep there, and don't want anything flash.
