I really like the time and seriousness devoted to the television news report instead of the usual ha-ha treatment this sort of item gets.

I like the title of this thread.

I dunno. All I could think was "Why?" It's something so out of the ordinary that it could be considered a distracting nuisance on a public road.

I think it is silly. In countries where cycling is mainstream, people dress on their bicycles just as they would dress to go to work, play or study. They may ride naked if they are nudists, I suppose (pardon me if I see that as a "German" thing). Certainly wouldn't complain or think it should be "illegal", but clothing was invented for good reasons, not all of which pertain to religious or other ideas of modesty.

Just let's say this is way down the list in terms of improvements to bicycle infrastructure and a pro-cycling environment.

I remember one complaint of exhibitionism (was it in California?) where an old lady said that someone was purposely parading around in the nude in their house just to offend her. A police investigation was made, and it was found that the only way to see the 'spectacle' was to stand on a stool in the bathroom and lean out of the window.

That is about what I felt about the woman who went to all the trouble to go back and see the nude cyclist and complain about him.

LOL!
They don't mind if they're stared at do they?

Lagatta, in fact I think in Germany there was a case that went to court a couple of years ago and the cyclists were made to wear something. This was in Bavaria I seem to remember, so the religious factor might have played a role.

That's the punchline of a really old joke, although it's probably happened in real life, too.

The nekkid cyclist's sense of entitlement is irritating as hell. It puts everyone who thinks it wouldn't kill him to conform to local standards squarely in the camp of the unreasonable and repressive. He needs to get over himself.

I had a flash just before that page appeared that it might be a Kiwi friend of mine. The thread title is perfect! As to the riding nekkid thing...it's a Kiwi. My favorite Kiwi once stripped off his drawers on a table at a BBQ just to illustrate a joke. I can completely see him getting in his head he has a RIGHT to bike nekkid just because...well, because! And that's that. :)
