It has 2 aquariums. One in the Princess of Wales conservatory (where these were taken) and another in the Palm House.

Bixa, judging from the shape of the wings in flight, I think I see more than one kind of bird. As to what they are I can only guess from your comment that they are not hot shot favourites for a very good reason!?? I am thinking - large Kitey-type bird, but flies in flocks scavenging or raiding :-/

;D Kerouac!

I guess they look bigger because of no reference point in the photo, Tod. They're pigeons.

Gasp! Hell yes, they are :o And of course a curse all over the globe where tourists gather to pamper and feed them. And why not?! They are one of the most intelligent birds on earth, capable of incredible memory.

Wow. Amman has amazing fauna! ;)

That camel would rather stretch his neck to the limit than take one step forward to reach the bowl?

You'd be surprised what you can find hanging about the streets here.

The camel was a little scared and took ages to approach the water in the bowls because I was standing there watching it.

I have always been fascinated by the differences of the animals that seem to calculate very little danger at approaching us to get something and other, sometimes huge, animals that are very skittish and shy and who prefer to keep their distance. I'm sure they all have their reasons.

Meanwhile, today I was interested to see these ducks of clearly different origins who seemed to get along just fine, but who fought with extreme violence over the little bits of cheese that I was throwing at them.

Their origins are not so different kerouac. All of them are at least part mallard (the brown ones are female), though a couple of the drakes may have had fathers who dallied with white domestic ducks!

There's an elk herd that winters on the hills above our daily drive into town.

They are usually too far away for closeup photos, but sometimes they gather in the meadow preparing to cross the road. (If I ever get a photo of that, I'll add it here. ;) )
