Can it be we don't have a thread on this topic?
As the northern hemisphere tilts closer to the sun, the days are getting longer and new life stirs.
Post your images of spring here.

This miniature iris was the sole bloomer poking out of the dirt in a planter bed outside the Good Food Store, our local organic market.

I always find late Spring really uplifting. I was happy as a happy thing in the greenhouse this afternoon, moving pots about and watching the birds squabbling on the bird table.

I was so happy to look out my patio doors this morning and see not ice, but WAVES on the lake. The rain and wind of the last few days has finally done it! It is not spring for me until the all the ice is GONE. Now I feel safe enough to uncover my flower beds. Cheers! Mich

Lovely, mich. And I'm so jealous your ice is out. Ours is still solidly locked in, till sometime in May. The local tavern has a poll going on what day the ice will go out.

The snow and rain showers broke today for long enough to get out for a walk and some spring wildflower pictures. So far we have only 4 species in bloom: Sagebrush buttercups, a yellow Fritillary, Pasqueflower and Trilliums. If any of the pics turned out, I'll put them on What's in Bloom?

Here, as well, you can go downtown to Demarco's Vegetable Market and Deli and place a bet on a box on the calendar and share winnings with all in the box that wins. It is shown on our newscast each spring and is always a fun way to wait for spring. Up in your altitude it will be a few more weeks before the ice comes off I imagine. Cheers! Mich

Up in your altitude it will be a few more weeks before the ice comes off I imagine I emailed the local tavern to inquire about ice-out dates, and here is his reply: The average is third week in May. I have seen it go once in April, and three times in the first week in June. And it usually freezes over by Thanksgiving. We have been here for 21 yrs.Think I'll go to Florida till the ice breaks up. BTW, it's snowing in Montana, again. And 34 degrees. I am SO over winter!

Home from Florida, and the lake was STILL frozen as of Sunday the 22nd, though by the end of the day the ice was looking pretty dark. I bet the lake will be open next time we go up... We did see a pair of bluebirds, so we'll be bringing up a couple bluebird houses. Hope it's not too late to entice them into nesting by our house.

Our crocuses just started blooming a couple days ago. Here's the first 3 clumps: I am disturbed that I did not see ANY honeybees visiting them. I hope the bees made it through the winter all right. Usually they are around as soon as the first crocus opens. (How do they know?)

These photos of Spring make me want to shout "Hold everything - I want to see it too!" I guess there will still be spring flowers around towards the end of this month Daffodils are just so beautiful clumped together like that - with a few autumn leaves still waiting to become compost! Kimby, those photos are vividly stunning! What beauties

Yes Kimby, autumn is here! The Plane tree next to our pool has lost nearly all its leaves thank goodness! ( shouldn't complain as they make brilliant compost) but are very messy.
Yep, going north again! We are flying out on 25th April. Always a longer route as our local airline does not go direct to Paris. We get upgrades with FF miles so have a very comfortable flight to Frankfurt. This year I noticed there was a rail offer direct to Amsterdam so grabbed it. Then it will be Paris, and the UK. Back on 1st June.

That has always been my worry when leaving home. I have found that they quite like cat pellets so my gardener, who will be here 4 days out of 7, will feed them. I have a sneaking suspicion they are being fed elsewhere too! The Kites left about a month ago and will only be back Aug/Sept.

Lovely to see all these signs of Spring and the new growth pushing through the ground. I have not seen any new babies yet on the river here yet , but we don't have many geese- just a few that seem to stay all year round. I took this at the end of March , now it has mostly finished flowering. (Snowy mespilus)
