Another free phone service from Google that works in the USA and Canada for free long distance. Watch the video for a more detailed description of all the things it can do for you. louisandlouisa.com/2010/07/google-voice/

Thanks for this, Louis.
I use Gizmo and have a list of numbers in the US through which people can call me. The downside of that is if none of the numbers are local for them, they must use their free cell minutes in order for the call to be free. Also, it involves their calling two sets of 10-digit numbers to reach me, and the connection is only as good as my internet connection is at that moment.
This would be great for people wishing to call me, as well as for all the other applications the article lists.

Thanks bixaorellana, I am not familiar with Gizmo and will have to check that out. Yes that is true about when you pick an area code that some will have a long distance charge because of that. But the long distance charges of today are much less than years ago.

I've never tried Gizmo. I use skype to talk computer to computer for free with friends a lot from home, and I speak with my hubs at home using it when traveling. I've also used tinychat to chat via computers. There's a way to use skype via phone lines, but they charge for that.
