It's 14°C here and the sun is shining although there are also some clouds blowing around.

I saw a picture of snow in Algeria on the BBC website yesterday.

Today was such a cool relief at 29C - lots of cloud, no wind. Now it's just started to rain - Yay!

Mark, to me, this would seem highly unusual for where you are, is that so?

Last night it was -20C and by Tuesday it is supposed to be 7C, the 7 is definitely unusual for us in January!

Cheers!

A rare occurrence mich, but it does happen. The rain turned to sleet, but fortunately no further.

They always show whenever it snows in Jerusalem or Beirut, so clearly Amman is nearby. And the other day, the news showed it snowing quite heavily in the Algerian Sahara region. It is the end of time.

Meanwhile, it is too warm in Paris -- up to 12° but it is supposed to go down to 9° most of this week.

It was only 64° (17.7777778 degrees Celsius) inside the house this morning. >:(

My computer weather widget says it's 62 outside right now in Xoxo. High today is supposed to be 82, with a low of 50.

Incidentally, if anyone is using Google Chrome or Firefox, I highly recommend the Forecastfox extension.
http://www.getforecastfox.com/ I didn't install the whole toolbar, so only have one cute little icon up in the right corner after the address bar -- where the little wrench is. I feel real affection for it.

It's snowing :P. Actually, just above 0° so not staying on the streets, but the roofs and lawns are getting white. So much for my camellias and azaleas which decided to bloom early this year. The snow will "burn" them.

Blue skies in Paris, but the temperature is brutal (at least by Parisian standards) : -5°

They've been saying there's a possibility of snow for Sunday.

The temperature hasn't been above -1C all day here..and it's falling rapidly now. I just read -5C on the thermometer hung on the garden shed. We're sposed to get a couple of inches (or 4) of snow over the weekend..of course the weathergirl on tv referred to it as 100mm to make it sound more dramatic...purleeeeze.... ::)

I kinda like the idea of measuring snow in mm.

We might get 200 mm tonight if we're lucky, but today I spotted a hyacinth blooming on a south facing slope. A blooming hyacinth, when they're supposed to wait until late March or so.

We ended up with 1 mm of snow, drifting up to ~3 mm in places.

I keep reading about sub-zero temps in Eastern Europe, but the papers neglect to say whether they're talking C or F. "22 degrees below zero reported in southern Switzerland" per NYTimes. If -22C, that's -7 F, and very cold by anyone's standards. The elevation makes a difference, of course.

Here it hovers around zero F a few times most winters. Where my daughter goes to school, in Minnesota, minus 22 F is not unheard of.
