What cheese are you?

I'm Blue Cheese...

You are a soft, crumbly white blue-streaked cheese. You are very cool and mellow. You are very knowledgeable and wise and people come to you for advice and help.

You are mozzarella!

You are a shiny, soft, round cheese. You are very imaginative and creative, but you don't like to stand out. You don't mind solitude at times and you love to do art.

God, you are SO much cooler than I am, Imec!

If you don't mind, I prefer to be called The Big Cheese.

You are a cheese with a complex flavour. Your moods are affected by your current environments. You are sophisticated and mature but sometimes a little superstitious.

You are small, round, complex and delicious!

It's so true! ::)
Except that I'm not very mellow; I'm intense. However, I'm knowledgeable in my areas of interest and I do like to help people.

By the way, we are packing some Wisconsin Gorgonzola and some Tillamook Cheddar with us when we go to Guanajuato this weekend to celebrate our anniversary. As the trip will take 6 hours in 3 buses, including layovers, we need to pack the odoriferous stuff very carefully. The cheeses will play a role in the "Sit on the terraza, sipping wine, and watching the sunset" program.

You are chevres! - apparently ... except I am selfish.

You are a cheese of different shapes, sizes, and textures. You are dependable, generous, and modest. You want to please everyone, but sometimes you have trouble remembering yourself.

These cheeses are made from goat's milk. They come in many sizes and shapes, such as round patties, log-shapes, drum-shapes, pyramids, round loaves, long loaves etc.; their textures vary from soft, but firm like cream cheese to extremely hard. Chevres are excellent dessert cheeses, often served as snacks or before dinner drinks. Goat cheese is often served as an ingredient in many fine dishes. But mellow BI,that's the best thing about brie.

This thread brought to mind an expression,a British expression I have heard in 2 different movies. The expression is "hard cheese". The context in which it was used was,in talking about another person,two people go on a bit and one says to the other,"don't you think that's rather hard cheese?" It comes across as meaning ,a bit harsh, or unfair. Does anyone know this expression? Is it used often or simply an aristocratic type of phrase (both movies were kind of "of the manor born" types.)

Thank you,I have asked several Brits and some had no idea what I was talking about. My husband and I use it sometimes and I thought that was in the right context. It really is a funny term.

I was so upset by HW's designation that I googled "american cheese". Whew! Besides the processed cheese we know and loathe, it can also be a "mild, pale white to yellow Cheddar". Since even a mild, well-made cheddar can have depth and interest, I feel much better now.

Incidentally, did you all know that a Swiss person invented processed cheese? Shocking.
