Tonight I overate, making about 15% too much spaghetti with spicy pork sausage sauce. 15% is not enough to save, but 15% is too much to eat.
I ate all of it, because I was taught not to waste.
Please reassure me that none of you ever overeat.

15% isn't overeating, I'd say at least 33% more has to be reached to be considered overeating.
My usual meal consists of two plates of rice or bowls. But if the main dishes aren't finished, I eat an extra plate of rice with it. That's... actually 50% more.
So, I have to correct myself, eating 50% more is overeating, 15% is just being a bit greedy.

If I define 'overeat', it wouldn't be 15%. That's too small a figure of excess to personally be anything but inaccuracy in tipping the stuff into the pan or adding a bit too much to the mix. So, yes, if that's the cut off point, I must regularly overeat.

No one is going to ask what that 15% was? Was it a cupful of food? A mounded salad plate's worth? A quart? A gallon? Back up the truck? And how much did he eat before he got to the "15% too much"?

I would say the 15% was about 30 strands of spaghetti. I have two different friends with whom this is never a problem. Whether at a restaurant or at home, I just pass my plate over to them and they will gobble whatever is left -- almost as good as having a dog.

Thirty strands of spaghetti weigh 25 grams, according to my spaghetti here. If that is 15% then the amount in total was a bit under 200g of the stuff, no more than 250 calories.
Your overeating is different to mine, for sure. But was it just the spaghetti you ate more of?

They don't weigh 25 grams after gorging themselves on boiling salt water, maybe with a little garlic oil added, and being covered with meat sauce.

That's true. I like my spaghetti a little more done and water-logged than al dente. It's a problem trying to cook just the right amount......When I've put the pasta in the boiling water it always looks so little, so I add another 10 or so strands.....it still looks mean so I add even more!

Not for me. If I cook a packet I eat it. No overeating there

I ate 33 strands over my limit once and had to have my stomach pumped.

I do not want to even discuss what I consider overeating. Needless to say, I am not 50+ lbs overweight because I have a dainty appetite.

Come sit over here, honey, next to my place at the table.
There is a buffet restaurant here that I love, but I only like going with a select few of my friends. Not everyone understands the joy of an eat-a-thon.

I am greedy. I like food and am terribly self indulgent...often using other people as an excuse to bake. At the moment I'm on a 'healthy eating' plan (Slimming World) and I'm doing OK...Yo Yo dieting is sposed to be really bad for you so OF COURSE I'm planning on succeeding in losing weight this time...
I completely understand the argument behind your overindulgence K2...but as long as it isn't every day where's the harm?

Oh, I don't do it every day. Actually, I skipped both breakfast and lunch today and did not even overindulge for dinner. The only 'snack' I had were some Turkish pickles around 5pm -- gherkins, carrot slices, cabbage and green tomato in vinegar brine. No calories there!

I see behind the plump guy there is the entrance to the toilet. How on earth does he get through the door?
