Today I went to the small Museum of Manuscripts and Letters which is currently displaying the original manuscript of On the Road.
Of course, I also looked at hundreds of other manuscripts and letters by everyone you can imagine and the main thing that came to mind was what a difficult job it used to be to be a typesetter. So much of it is chicken scratch, or else it is written so small, from times when ink and paper were very expensive.

An edition was published several years ago and I bought it, not having read On The Road for probably 30 years at least.
I haven't been able to read it. No indentation, no paragraphing and no chapters. Dear God, what a mess! I can manage a page or so but I really find it very difficult to read.
