true... unless it decides to be born two weeks early, then it might be christmas in the maternity ward... but i heard firstborns are usually a bit late rather than early... no idea if that is true, but i guess it is nicer for a child not to have its birthday at christmas...

Thirty-six hours before my family arrives from the north, west, and just down the street for a ten day visit. Four adult children, one daughter in-law, one son in-law, five grandchildren ages 5, 4, 3, 2, and almost 1, and one rambunctious dog to join one very old cat. The cat's going to be very annoyed.

I need to start looking at those family reunion recipes!

Oh, I am sure I will be on the Internet from time to time, as I will need to escape to have some "down time" when the chaos starts to get to me. Eighty-five percent of my job is also done on the Internet, so even though I don't work much in the summer I do need to keep up with some things.

We will probably keep to simple recipes and do a lot of grilling (grilled corn for sure). One grandchild is severely allergic to dairy and eggs (rushed her to the ER three times last year), so we often need to modify recipes or make two different versions. My children are good cooks and we will all take turns. I don't mind cleaning up if I don't have to cook :)

In keeping with the spirit of this thread my new radom thought is: next year we need to rent a beach place for this ever growing crowd!
