Because they were smartly dressed, looked very healthy, had a number of wives each with them and had uncious and supercilious smiles.

How did you know they were mormons?

They were dressed in black suits with white shirts and were wearing their missionary name tags ("Elder Frank Smith").

oh, okay, I wondered how you would notice as we have many mormons here and I could not distinguish anyone but if they were having a conference and had their name tags on, I guess I would figure that out.

Cheers!

They were just typical American missionaries sent to France. They are always dressed like that with the name badges, so I was wondering when on earth they could wear clothes from H&M.

I bet that tod2 is back from Kruger with a shitload of great new pictures.

gosh, that is what I call bitter! :-/

I've got photos alright - devastation, devastation, devastation! That cyclone must have been really frightening. Give me a few days....
Posted by kerouac2 on Mar 7, 2012, 3:01pm
Ouch, I read about Irina hitting Mozambique, but I didn't consider the fact that South Africa is right next door!
Posted by tod2 on Mar 7, 2012, 4:47pm
No, not Irina. That never happened although everyone in the park was expecting it would hit us during the night. Two days of high wind- that's all.
I'm referring to the cyclone in January.

Is that the one that did damage in Durban also?
Posted by rikita on Mar 7, 2012, 6:29pm
i want more tiramisu.
Posted by kerouac2 on Mar 7, 2012, 6:45pm
That's almost an anagram of tsunami.
Posted by mich64 on Mar 7, 2012, 7:33pm
I would like to try tiramisu. :) I have seen it and it does look delicious but I have never tried it...

Cheers,
Mich

it is delicious. very very much so. if it is good tiramisu. (if it isn't good tiramisu it still tastes nice usually - so you can't go completely wrong).
Posted by kerouac2 on Mar 7, 2012, 9:37pm
I have a friend who has made it his specialty. So we have to eat massive amounts at every dinner invitation. Not a problem for me. [image]
Posted by rikita on Mar 8, 2012, 5:54pm
well if it is ever too much for you, i can give you my address...
Posted by auntieannie on Mar 8, 2012, 6:10pm
properly made tiramisu is one of the most delicious foods in the world, I think! what's not to like? "biscuits a la cuillere dipped in strong coffee, sprinkled with amaretto, layered with mascarpone cream and the lot covered in cocoa powder. mmmmmmhhhhh!

and now for the random thought: it's all about inflammation these days.
Posted by kerouac2 on Mar 8, 2012, 6:22pm
I am sending an extremely inflammatory message to the boss tomorrow.
Posted by mich64 on Mar 8, 2012, 7:04pm
Maybe that is why I have never tried it, I do not drink coffee, I do not like it... Could I still like tiramisu? I guess I will have to try it, I will eat coffee flavored chocolates...

Cheers!
Mich

I am not a fan of coffee flavour either, Mich, but tiramisu is excellent.
Posted by mich64 on Mar 8, 2012, 7:10pm
aw, good to know Kerouac... Next time I am out and it is on the menu I am going to have it and I will report back.
Cheers!

It seems very strange now that the wreckage of the Titanic was not located until 1985.
Posted by tod2 on Mar 9, 2012, 3:32pm
That was Irina, Kerouac. Just this past week. I didn't really take much notice of the reports in January, but after serveying the damage first hand in Kruger, I went back and watched the video clips of vehicles taking chances to go across fast flowing and very scary rivers!

I am never going to buy "Wasa authentique" again. It is like chewing on rocks. I am going back to "Wasa léger."

When people say that the concept of "Europe" does not exist, I always think of days like today when the Belgian bus tragedy in Switzerland brings the continent together. It is practically the only subject on tonight's evening news in France.

Then again, perhaps it is because of the horrific accident in France in 1982, when a bus of children was involved in an accident, killing 53 people including 44 children -- most of whom burned to death.

Today's accident killed "only" 28 people so far (some are expected to die in hospital), of which 22 were children. Nevertheless, it is the worst accident in Switzerland in history. (The French accident is also the worst French accident in history.)

When I watched the news programs this morning I was so sad. Sad for the children who died, for those who were injured for those that are fighting for their lives in hospital and for the parents who were gathered at the school in Belgium waiting to hear where their child was. An incredibly horrific accident. :(

I remember traveling through a tunnel on our way to Lugano, 22 klms. long I think? I remember how my husband talked about the fire in the tunnel years before and that he would ensure he stayed as far back as instructed by the signs, he knew I was anxious.

Hopefully the remaining children will survive this and be able to return home to their families as soon as possible.

I am really annoying top management these days. My boss came to tell me today that he was yelled at this morning for not controlling my insolence in emails. He was laughing about it, though. He and I will be leaving the company at the same time so we risk nothing.

So you aren't staying for your gold watch then?? Does the thought of lying in bed till noon ever occur?
Are you starting a new career? Will we still hear from you a lot?
So many questions......probably so little answers ;D ;D ;D
