For me goat cheese and fennel are an absolute no go.

salty anchovies - fresh ones are OK.

I will give anything else a go but I'd not go out of my way to eat much offal.

I love haggis!

When I was a student I worked in a supermarket and they were always knocked off as no one wanted to buy them and with my staff discount they ended up being about 50p so I lived on them :D

I'm pretty sure that I can eat anything, but if you put me in front of a buffet of every food item in the world, it is likely that sliced beetroot might be one of the last things I would put on my plate.

Any offal, most seafood like shellfish, mussels, cockles, winkles, oysters, any fat on meat and................pasta.

Mark... I can relate to offal and fat on meat. I can even understand the seafood thing. I love it but I know that it's not everybodys taste. But PASTA ? I find that very interesting. I have never heard of anyone disliking pasta. Your are quite unique ;)

I think that many of us have been thinking along the lines of "if he doesn't like pasta, does he eat...." rice, potatoes, wheat, bread, couscous, etc...

Two reasons - I wasn't raised in a pasta eating family and only my father ate it from time to time. I tried it as well as a kid but never got on with it. I didn't try again seriously until my late twenties and tried different variations that never really appealed to me when the alternative was more tasty, like potatoes and rice.
In my thirties when I was doing the expeditions thing whereby the group had to cater for themselves the easiest meal to make for twenty people was some pasta.
As we often were in the middle of nowhere I had no alternative but to eat it, or go hungry, despite my persuasions to the cook team that night that there were other sources of carbs.

Thus, I never really got a taste for it and then for many years it was thrust upon me several nights a week. So, I don't it eat unless it absolutely cannot be avoided.
One thought is that perhaps it may be time to resurrect a small guide I once wrote about overlanding that covers a number of aspects including a small mention of my dislike of pasta.

I have a friend whose family is Sicilian, and she won't eat pasta, but loves tomato sauce and meatballs. I think she only got away with it because she was the baby of the family.

Yes it is, koshary. But as every purveyor has his own combination of ingredients it has taken me quite some time to find one that is heavy on the fried onions and sauce, heavy on the lentils and chick peas but most of all, heavy on the rice (which is actually cheaper than most pasta here) and light on the pasta aspect.
There is still some there but I manage to mask the texture of it with the other stuff.

I am not sure what foodstuff I dislike. I would say I am not crazy about liver, but I have enjoyed a small plate of it from time to time.

No offal either for me. I have memories of my parents making this dish containing chicken livers when I was a kid, and I hated the smell.

I am most picky about fruit. Most other things I can eat, even if I am not crazy about them. The main fruits I do like are citrus, berries and a few others like apricots. Bananas are vile and I hate stuff like apples and pears too. The smell of a banana makes me want to throw up.

The main other thing I don't like is some seafood, mainly mussels and oysters or other things that have that sandy texture. On the other hand I love shrimp, lobster and crab.

As a kid I was a lot pickier and I thought I didn't like some things like legumes because my mom doesn't like them so she never served them. I have gotten better, though.

In general, I have a strong dislike of cooked carrots. Do they have a sulphury smell? Yet I'm fond of grating raw carrots into salads.

I'm somewhat lactose-intolerant, no milk, and don't digest most cow's-milk cheeses well. Fortunately I do like goat's milk and ewe's milk cheese. But that isn't really a dislike.

I'm not very fond of sweets in general, and hate sweet beverages. And I don't especially like beer.

I don't like okra. Also horseradish and Marmite.

I wonder if the Marmite thing is because I wasn't raised on it -- like onlyMark and pasta. The first time I tried it was in my 20's. My husband and son love it, but they've both been eating it since they were little.

I will not deny that tripe is slimy. I have never considered it to be fatty, although I can understand how it can give that impression, since it is the color of fat. One of the French names for it is "gras double" -- "double fat."

Oh, but it is delicious when it is prepared properly!

I don't really fancy anything that tastes too "fishy" like eel or the congee I last tried that had dried mussels in it. I'm not into raw oysters either.

I only tried black pudding once and didn't like it.

Other than being a veggie, I'm not a fan of tofu or warm custard. I can stomach custard if it is cold in a trifle or something.

Ewww... I wouldn't eat froglegs either. I've heard that they pull the legs off the frog while they are still alive and then just let them bleed to death.
Does anyone know if that's true ?
