So lovely, Kimby. That saturated Spring green of the grass is balm for the eyes, too. Where is the iris garden? The iris garden is at the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, where I volunteer as a docent. Besides the flower beds, they have a gazebo where weddings are performed. Are those some kind of dwarf irises, Kimby? The irises are planted in beds by type. I think these were called "median" or something. This was the only bed that was in bloom. The larger and bearded ones come later.

Re: "other worldly" -- Cheery, I was poking the camera in there in the hope that I'd see the little singing fairy princesses from the Mothra movies. That African daisy has been a constant performer and source of pleasure.
Love your marigolds. I have no room for them here, and they get very big and robust, crowding out other stuff.
Casimira, you really captured the appeal of those coneflowers. I must get seeds for some when I'm back in the States. That 2nd photo is brilliant! I know what you mean about "purple". What about "lavender", a color description that's worked to death for flowers and can mean almost anything?
Wow, Kimby -- that made me feel super-wonderful, thanks! Nah, I'm just finally starting to learn more about the one I have, plus getting the hang of editing. I still take lots of bleah photos.
Hey, no one is going to wager a guess on my #3 in the yellow category? Maybe it's pathetically obvious to all of you.

A few more blooming pics from my yard ~~ There is a child's swing set set into the concrete of the patio. I got the landlady to remove the swings & store them. The frame is right in front of the window of the computer room, so I can enjoy the plants on it even from inside. I love this type of geranium, which seems made for the bright light and long dry spells where I live. Another one, in a pot on the same hanging frame - And the little trooper Abuliton, which has performed tirelessly for months ~ Well, drat. Someone IDed this for me, & now I can't remember. Mallow, in bud & flower ~ Jícama flowers ~

OOOH OOOH....I fear I may embarrass myself with over-enthusiastic gushing....the abutilon and jicama flowers are STUNNING (sorry...I shouted!) and the use of the child's swing is inspired. Respect. ;D

mickthecactus vs. micktheorchid It doesn't seem fair that one person should be blessed with a green thumb in both speres, especially when you consider how different the growing requirements are for these two plant families. Next you'll be showing us your gorgeous gardenia bushes, and I will swoon with jealousy.

Finally getting to see the Nemesia. For whatever reason, it wouldn't load yesterday.
Those are just the loveliest flowers, Cheery. I am a fiend for that color of pink, and in combination with the other subtle colors, well, exquisite. Super photo, too.
The nemesias I had did not have any scent at all.

I finally scrolled down to the bottom, after admiring everyone's blooms. Indeed, Tod is right about your yellow flower, Bixa. It's a coreopsis. Mine are blooming now too. I'll go out to take a few pics soon. We have had some rain, so things are looking up again.

Bixa - that yellow unidentified flower.... is that not a coreopsis? I loved seeing your doggie taking a snooze in your lovely potted garden! Indeed, Tod is right about your yellow flower, Bixa. It's a coreopsis. Thanks, ladies. I knew it was coreopsis-y, but somehow thought I'd been given a different name for it. It's a really heavy bloomer. Tod, that is Ginger's spot. He gets that shady area so he'll have some place to scrape out & loll in the dirt that is not part of the garden. It looks so sad to see him resting his little head on the hard concrete, but he has a lovely, large inside bed area. His street dog origins are strong, though. Do you all recognize the white flower above Bjd's post?

The farmers markets are burgeoning with bouquets of cut flowers grown locally. The native plant gardeners are a little less ostentatious, and none of their offerings are CUT:

Oh, Cheery, your arrangements are WONDERFUL! You have so much artistry with texture, color, and form. I so admire the way you incorporate foliage, too -- it really adds a soft and beautiful dimension to your already beautiful arrangements. Did everyone think you'd spent a fortune at the florist's?
Kimby, what a great farmers' market. The cut flower bouquets seem very reasonably priced. I love that you can get potted native plants. Did you buy any of those?
