1311. when me and someone else have different memories of the same event (or one is sure it occured, the other can't remember it ever occuring), leading to arguments and problems. and i know neither of us would lie to the other. but i really am almost sure he didn#t give me the money...

yeah well mr. r. and i also sometimes have arguments because i "never listen" when i am sure he just never mentioned the thing i supposedly didn't listen to. just that when it is about money it is a bit more annoying... maybe i should constantly take a tape recorder with me and record everything that happens around me.

I have Skype turned on, when an old friend in Mexico City rang me up to say hello. I asked if she had a webcam and she did, so we chatted live with video.
I was telling Sra. Cuevas how I had a primitive Internet telephone program years ago, and one time, I actually got to speak with a guy in Brazil. But it was barely inteligible. How things have changed.

This was supposed to be a positive thing, and it was, but I posted it in the wrong place!

1313. Making a special trip to the other side of Paris to find that 'special highly recommended' restaurant has gone out of business, ending in a double peeve when the next cafe` attempt at getting lunch has also gone bye-bye

1314. Those giant toilet paper dispensers in public bathrooms that issue paper with no perforations, so you can't help but waste lots of paper because when you yank it to tear it off, it spins a pile onto the floor and still doesn't tear.

1316. Having official municipal employees come up to tell me that photography is forbidden in public parks.
(I looked it up and of course the rules are not clear, particularly if people appear in the photo. But enforcement is so impossible that any rules are pretty ridiculous.)

well, i was drinking tea against bladder infections and i was told once that if you do that, you shouldn't drink cranberry juice, as they cancel each other out. no idea if that is true... well in the end it didn't go away though so i went to the doctor and am taking antibiotics now. they helped within the first day of taking them.

i usually like to see all the commercials and trailers, as that gives me time to settle in, get used to the athmosphere and all. unfortunately, yesterday mr. r. looked up the wrong time, and then the bus didn't arrive... so we got there about a minute after the actual movie started. we saw almost all of it, but it somehow didn't feel right (and the people behind us were eating something that somehow smelled strongly of ketchup...)

In Paris, in the main chain cinemas, the time between "showtime" and "movie time" is generally 20 minutes, but I hate missing any of it, unless I have already been to several movies in the same chain that week and know that I am going to see all of the same trailers and ads. In independent places, it is usually 10-15 minutes.
1323. People arriving late to the movie, sitting next to me, and asking what they missed.

re: 1323 -- Kerouac, you should take an old-fashioned seltzer bottle to the movies for that very eventuality.
Is the showtime & movie time gap an attempt to get people inside & sitting down before starting the film?
I know what you mean, Rikita. It's imperative to get to the movies before the lights go down. You can be picky about where you sit & move if necessary. I have fretted to people before about getting there on time & they'll airily reply, "It's only the previews." Sheesh -- that's part of the experience!

Absolutely. I must be half-dead, as they can't detect me no matter how frantically I wave my hands around.
On the other hand, the automatic flushers keep going off before needed, misting my privates with germy spray while I finish my business, sometimes more than once.
And then I usually end up having to manually flush the damn thing when I'm done!

(i didn't ask anyone what i missed though - but the woman next to us asked us if it is alright she keeps using our cup holder - which mr. r. misunderstood as her telling us these seats are taken, and as he doesn't seem to trust my seat finding skills, he got up again and had to be called back down by me and the woman. that probably annoyed the people behind us...)
