1347. Oh, oh, I remember! Using the recent posts feature or the little compass thingy to see what's new on Any Port, then checking my bookmarks and realizing that none of those looks counts as visiting a thread so all my bookmarks are still marked "new" and I have to visit each one to erase the "new" flag.

1350. Stores and restaurants that turn the air-conditioning up so high that I can barely stand to stay indoors long enough to make my purchases or finish my meal. It's summer, folks! Your customers are dressed for warm weather. What are you thinking? They can't spend money if they can't stand to be inside your establishment. AND you're wasting energy and money, too. (Ditto for places that overheat in the winter.)

I had a friend -- quite a peevish person -- that did that to me.
1352. Keep forgetting to post this, & it's a HUGE peeve of mine:
WHY in the name of goodness aren't all the holding parts on the tops of teapots, sugar bowls, canisters and the like made so you can actually grasp them??!
If you go into anyones china cabinet, any thrift or antique shop, you're sure to find topless teapots & sugar bowls because the tops naturally slipped from the grip of someone attempting to access the contents.
WRONG:

You have my heartfelt sympathy on the morning sickness.
Mine was so bad, I couldn't say any words with a hard G in them -- girl, magazine, etc. -- without racing for the john.

Well, that will still be a few weeks before I know... but I am also quite curious...
as for the morning sickness, i think i was/am lucky compared to others, it was never as strong as some of the others i heard about... but it was still quite annoying at times... especially when mr. r. went through so much trouble to cook a really nice meal for me - and then i just couldn't eat it...

As a guy, I have never known if morning sickness only takes place in the morning. Sometimes they give these conditions inaccurate names.

afaik it can take place any time of the day. in my case, it was strongest in the morning until about lunch time, but there was also a phase of a week or so where i was fine in the mornings but not feeling well in the afternoons/evenings. and from what i heard, for some women it is 24/7...

And from what I've heard, the healthiest women tend to have the most morning sickness and deliver the healthiest babies. Women who smoke tend not to suffer morning sickness, perhaps because their nausea meter has been turned off by the exposure to so much smoke.
Sounds like you are out of the woods on the morning sickness, riki, so when is the little one expected?

yeah, i read too that there are statistics saying women with morning sickness have fewer miscarriages, for example. no idea whether that is ttrue though - neither my mom nor my grandmother had mroning sickness, and they had 3 (my mom) and 4 (my grandma) children without any problems. though my other grandmother had morning sickness and also had 4 children...
yeah morning sickness is pretty much gone. now i am just hungry all the time. my stomach growls if i don't eat in too long...
official date is january 7th... interestingly, that is mr. r's ex-wife's birthday...

"problema" (Spanish) looks like a feminine noun, but is in fact masculine ~~ el problema.
I feel this speaks volumes. ![[image] [image]](http://mail.yimg.com/nq/mc/1_0_0/mesg/tsmileys2/09.gif)

In the last Spanish course I took, the teacher was asked how to know when nouns ending in A were actually masculine. She blithely replied, "Just remember, they're the words with Greek roots."

yeah i learned that about the greek words too... the fact that "mano" is feminine, on the other hand, has to do with the latin root word afaik... (was it "manus" or something like that?)
oh, and:
1359. football fans who think that just because it is some stupid europe cup and football is important to them, it must be to everyone else or at least everyone else has to make space for their football-fan-ness...
