yeah well i was glad at the outcome because i hoped germany would lose the moment i found the cycling lanes blocked with chairs pubs put there to create more space for public viewing, and the viewers looking at me like i am crazy to be outside cycling during a football game...

(though admittedly i might have been more tolerant, if i didn't find the cycling lane blocked by something or other almost every day)

You had a ***cigarette***?!
I have been wanting a cigarette ever since February, 2008 when I gave them up the last time. *sigh*
Maybe if López Obrador wins on Sunday, I'll have a puff. Maybe not though, since I know my utter spinelessness in the face of tobacco.

Lately one of my pet peeves is my darn keyboard. Why did they put the 'Caps Lock' right next to the 'A'. Probably so every time we use an 'a' we hit Caps Lock at the same time and mess up a whole sentence!!GGRRrrrrrrrr

If you can find an older keyboard, Tod -- @10 years old or so -- they were still patterned on typewriter keys then, and much more comfortable to use.

Hey thanks guys! I didn't know that. I only remember this problem never arose when I first started on the internet. I have to change my keyboard every year or so because the letters wear out on the keyboard....cheap junk ones I guess. I will now scour around the auction rooms but don't hold out too much hope.

Ha ~~ many of my keys are blank. Even if you're not a touch typist, your brain somehow tells you which key is which.
The old keyboards are just all-around chunkier. I'd ask among your friends. Even the non-hoarders probably have computer items they set aside & forgot.

If CapsLk annoys you as much as it does me, go here, http://www.randyrants.com/2011/12/sharpkeys_35.html from where you can can download a little app that will let you remap your keyboard. You can change your CapsLk for instance to a Shift key, or disable it entirely as I do. It really isn't hard to do.

Jerks!
Shortness of Breath During Pregnancy As your pregnancy progresses, you may find yourself short of breath. Shortness of breath typically begins before the twentieth week of pregnancy and continues into the third trimester. You may find you have to rest more frequently during physical activity. Shortness of breath during pregnancy is usually mild and should not disrupt your day to day activities.
What causes shortness of breath in pregnancy? Your uterus expands during pregnancy putting pressure on your diaphragm. This pressure keeps your lungs from expanding fully causing shortness of breath.
Another contributor to shortness of breath in pregnancy is progesterone. Progesterone is a hormone found during pregnancy. Progesterone has many effects on your body and helps to maintain pregnancy. It has a relaxing effect on muscles which helps to keep the uterus from contracting. This relaxing effect actually relaxes the muscles supporting the lungs. Progesterone also changes the body's sensitivity to carbon dioxide. Normally when you breath, as the carbon dioxide increases, you need to get rid of it. So as your body becomes more sensitive to it, you will feel the need to breath off carbon dioxide. Moreover, this can leave the pregnant mother feeling winded and short of breath.
And as far as sensitivity to certain foods:
Hormonal Changes: During pregnancy, your hormone levels change rapidly. Estrogen and hCG levels skyrocket, in order to help prepare your body for the upcoming pregnancy. These rising hormone levels may be responsible for triggering nausea and queasiness. Sensitivity to Smell: Women tend to more sensitive to smells throughout their pregnancies. It is thought that estrogen and other hormones may contribute to this heightened sense. This can make even the most delicious meal nausea-inducing! GI Tract Sensitivity: During pregnancy, your GI tract also becomes extremely sensitive. This means that certain foods, particularly rich or spicy ones, may irritate the lining of your stomach.

as for today's peeve:
1366. when i am emptying the dishwasher at work, and people come in, but none of them decide to help.
(to their defense, they might have thought it was my week of "kitchen duty", which it wasn't, but i knew the girl whose week it is had already gone home and there were loads of new dirty dishes on the counter - even if it was my week though, most people do help whoever is cleaning out the dishwasher, but there are some who never do that, especially those who never have kitchen duty, because they have a fixed contract rather than a trainee or internship one. actually that is another peeve - why do those who already get paid less for basically the same work, additionally have to do extra tasks?)

Phone calls in the middle of the night are bad enough, but can be very disorienting when you learn someone has died.

I was much more worried when my parents were in Florida and I knew that awful things could happen at any moment.
However, one of the most joyous phone calls ever came in the middle of the night from my mother who called to say "The Bucs won the Super Bowl!" She was a rabid Bucs fan and would never miss a game on TV, and she would listen to it on the radio if there was a local video blackout. My father was pretty much embarrassed by her enthusiasm, but I found it very endearing.

1368. Pitchers & the like that don't pour, but dribble. If you're going to put a pouring lip on something, do it right!
(I'm specifically thinking of the carafe to my coffee maker, but there are many other examples.)

I've gotten four of those calls - both parents and two younger siblings. I was only two hours away for all but one. They were terribly difficult times and I cannot fathom being an ocean away. How difficult for you, Kerouac. Too bad my mother hadn't lived to see the Bucs win the Super Bowl. She would have been thrilled, too.

1369. Pharmacy technicians who tell me my copay is going to be $95 when the charge for the same medication has been $10 a month for the last two years. After a week of arguing, and then me telling them I'm taking my business elsewhere, they "suddenly" realize the copay is going to be $10 after all.
