rikita - 4.7 is quite good isn't it? But this is the nuber allocated to the worst part of your computer, you might have a really good one but with a poor graphics bit, and that number reflects the bad bit. Also, if you click on the link at the side of the number where it says, 'Windows Experience Index', it'll show you numbers for each component. yeah well since the computer is pretty new and while not expensive, wasn't really cheap either, i'd hope it is good... well, the one thing is that i sometimes have trouble when watching movies, and the bf says it might be the dvd drive - i will watch it a bit longer and then maybe have it checked...

except that is only an option when you are sure you will never want a bigger version of that photo. if you care about photography, wouldn't you take them in the biggest possible setting, simply because it is better quality if you actually want to do something with it (big prints, editing programs, etc.)? You can keep it big as you wish, but for someone like me, I can never see a time where I need an A3 sized photo. well, i use some of my photos for calenders, and i always plan to turn some into posters. so far, the biggest i did there was A4, but one day i will make some A3 climbing posters i think... also, if you heard of the whole flickr-getty thing, some of my photos have been invited to that and i want to participate, so for that i also need them as good quality files - which fortunately i have for all but one or two of the invited photos...

um, bixa, you know that cds aren't good forever? if you have the large versions of your photos only on cds, and you want to access those photos five years later, they might well be gone? but well, i tend to post photos via flickr, and i think there is no size problem then with my photos, is there? If you don't put them on flikr in a large size what would you do with them anyway. If you feel that a cd wont last 5 years, will you use your computer as the primary storage for them? The only use I have for photos are to see them on my computer screen or e mail them to friends and family. If I do the latter then I don't want them to be Mb's big anyway. I can't see when I'd print any any more anyway. I was only saying you can do something, not you should and the choice is whatever you want. I have all mine on this computer, on Photobucket, on a second computer the kids use and on discs. I hope that's enough! actually i upload them to flickr the size they are - so if i then download the original size it seems to me i'd have exactly the original picture back. but also, i decided to use my old computer for storage for now (it isn't that huge, but i think it will last for a bit) - i will also make dvds - and then probably when the old computer is full, delete those pictures that seem least likely that i need them again (like if i have lots of shots of the same thing, delete those of lower quality etc.) - once that is all used up i guess i might buy an external hard disc - hopefully by then they will have gotten cheaper - or another few usb sticks - hopefully by then they will have gotten larger... and once even that is all full i have to figure something else out, but that will be years still. i don't take THAT many pictures...

rikita - obviously if you use for photos for something more than showing the parents their grandkids then fair enough. As for your DVD thing, it tends to be one of four things. Either the DVD disc is a bad one, a physical thing with your drive in that it's not being read properly or not spinning like it should, your software for displaying it is not up to the job, or your computer is trying to juggle doing other things at the same time and can't cope with the stress.

Hey, Rikita ~~ what is this about?! Sounds wonderful, congratulations. Tell us more, please. well it is some kind of cooperation between flickr and getty images, so that getty images will have this so-called flickr collection, for which they invited various pictures from flickr members... since i don't know much about stock photography i can't really tell if it is good or not, it all sounds pretty complicated, but i decided to participate, as this is my first chance ever to sell any photos... only a few of mine were invited, but it is quite exciting. still not quite done with all the paper work though...

That is exciting about Flickr-Getty. You know I am a fan of your photography, so I'm delighted to see it get some official recognition. You deserve it!

How to make clickable textObtain your link and paste it in the message box. Here's the one I'll use for purposes of illustration: www.bikewebsite.com/In order to make this demo show correctly on the page, carats (><) are used instead of brackets ([ ]). When you do this for real, substitute a bracket everywhere I've used a carat. Now, in front of the http, type in <url= After the last letter or symbol in the url, in this case /, type in a bracket. Now type in the text you want to be clickable. I'll use: Fix your bike. After the last word of the text, type in </url>. This is how the finished product should look, except that of course all the carats will be brackets: <url=http://www.bikewebsite.com/>Fix your bike</url>When you post, it will show up like this: Fix your bike

Either Mark or Kerouac commented to me that there is an easier way to do the above and yes , that is true. This is the easier way: Click on the link button: Now you can put the = sign after the first url, then paste in the link. Add the text after the first closing bracket: ] and bob's your uncle.

I am still adapting to my Chromebook for travel and am as yet unsure that I will ever like it the way I liked my netbook. However, the reason I have not been posting much on the road these past two days is because I brought the wrong power cable! I have so many of those damned things now, and they are easy to get them mixed up.
And I am reaching the end of my battery on this thing.
