 The abduction of Maddy McCann

I have not see any comments on AnyPort about the latest findings.

On Saturday our newspapers had the eyes of Madelaine McCann taking up the whole front page and in big bold headlines "I Have Found Madelaine"

A South African man had dedicated 5 years of his life and over half a million trying to find out what became of this little girl.
He announced that after living in the same area(complex) he has found the only place a person could bury a body undetected. Right near the apartment the children occupied.
He has used specialized equipment that can detect a body - and this has indicated a small body buried in a garden close by.

Is this closesure and more heartbreak for the McCann family?

Has anyone else heard any reports on other news channels?

I haven't read anything about this.

This case has (I guess I have to say) fascinated all of Europe for years, as well as sparking debates about how one should handle small children. Zillions of people have left small children unattended (already asleep in bed) while they had dinner elsewhere with no ill effect. But of course it just takes one case like this to make it seem completely irresponsible.

hadn't heard about it either yet... as for the reactions to leaving children unattended - it is like you say. reminds me of a recent case in germany where a 10 year old boy disappeared and later was found dead. he was vacationing on a norht sea island (he was from austria) and apparently he was playing alone on a beach playground, dug a big hole, and died because the sand crashed down over him. apart from the discussions of whether he was really able to dig such a hole by himself, a lot of people keep saying that it's the parents fault for not watching over him. the kid was 10 years old. we were always playing by ourselves at that age. and he was only a few hundred metres from the vacation house his parents were in. it is tragic and sad, but it can't mean that you should watch a child that age 24/7. they have to learn to face the world by themselves too.

another interesting thing is, that no one seems to think it is irresponsible to take your child into a car, even though many more children probably die in car crashes, while under complete supervision of their parents...

What I find strange about this announcement is that usually anything this big is first brought to light by SKY News, BBC or CNN.
I would have thought (maybe they have), that the McCanns as parents would have been kept abreast of all things concerning their daughter, and that the news should have come through them.
So far it's been a bit 'No Comment' from all quarters except our local paper and the South African Sunday papers today.

Looking at Google News, it doesn't look like most media are taking him seriously after so many years of "breakthroughs."

The main text I found was:

A South African property developer claims Madeleine McCann’s body was buried near the site of her disappearance and that he has found her grave.

Stephen Birch says ground radar scans he made with specialist equipment have been passed to Scotland Yard, who are conducting an investigative review of the case.

He told Sky News: “All I want to do is solve the mystery and bring closure to Madeleine’s family. I am convinced she lies where I have scanned."
