Topic Summary
Posted by bixaorellana on Nov 29, 2010, 5:51pm
I'm not a Connie Francis fan, since I find her so nasal. But when I saw your reference to her on Changing the Station, I looked her up for old times sake. (& because I knew @ how old I was, thus how old you were, when the song hit the airwaves)

Anyway, now I have "You Are My Special Angel" stuck in my head. It was part of a homage mix to her. :-X Here ~~ let me share!

I will not listen!!!!! >:( ;)
I prefer to keep Where the Girls Are ,in my head, thank you very much. ;)

I wish normal songs would get stuck in my head instead of stupid advertising jingles!
Posted by foreverman on Jul 14, 2011, 11:13am
I sometimes wake up in the morning with one line of a song going continually through my head.........the first cup of coffee usually fixes it though...........

I don't even know what triggers my earworms, as almost always they're not songs I've heard recently. I think there's an old Wurlitzer or Seeburg stuck in my head and occasionally something rolls off one of the shelves up in there, bounces across the floor, hits the jukebox and makes a record come down.

Crap. I wrote that and now have this stuck in my head:

I once spent a week singing "Winter Wonderland" in July.

My worst ear worm was this:

Ugh, that's exactly the sort of thing I meant when I said I get attacked by advertising jingles!

had the beginning of this song stuck in my head the other day:

Oh, gawd, Joanne ~ that's the worst!

At least you got something pretty, Rikita.

Just now I was sitting here, minding my own business and doing a jigsaw puzzle, when suddenly, there in my brain was the full version -- instruments, back-up, falsetto, etc. of:

Oh god, I wish I had'nt played that last post.................now its in my head

I have one of the worst ever prefab europop summer hits playing in the depths of my brain. Luckily I do not have access to YouTube at the office, so you will temporarily be spared "Vamos a la Playa" by some Dutch bimbo who calls herself Loona (but whose real name is Marie-Jose van der Kolk, so you can understand why she changed her name).

Man, you've just started a nightmare...

Specially for HW, in its full ear worming horror....

And for everybody's karaoke enjoyment:

Vamos a la playa
A mí me gusta bailar
El ritmo de la noche
Sounds of fiesta (x2)
You Know we go
Where the feeling is right
You know we go
Where the groove is hot
You know we go
Where the feeling is right, feeling is right, feeling is right.

Vamos a la playa.

Baila baila ouh (x3)
You Know we go

I have been spending whole days humming "Me and Mrs. Jones" lately. For no good reason.
Other than that the radio played it twice in 2 days.
Posted by bixaorellana on Aug 17, 2011, 11:11pm
So, your post made me sing "me and mrs., mrs. jones" to myself a couple of times. Then I got this earworm instead -- fortunately a song I really like ~~
Posted by kerouac2 on Aug 18, 2011, 6:49am
I wouldn't mind Me & Mrs. Jones playing in my head, compared to so many other possibilities.

Some information about earworms.
Posted by casimira on Apr 5, 2012, 9:18pm
I read that piece when you first posted it Kerouac and forget to reply. Anyway,I did not agree with what it said,or,rather,it did not apply to my experience with earworms.
Interesting though.

I unfortunately let myself listen to an interview with Doris Day on NPR on the occassion of her 88th birthday.
They played Que Sera Sera,(one of her big hits, which she stated that she hated) now it's stuck >:(. I refuse to inflict it on anyone else.

(You already have!)

Saturday evening I was in the kitchen, cooking and minding my own business. Unbidden to my empty little head came "The Rivers of Babylon" & wouldn't go away.

Sunday morning I got on a bus and as soon as I sat down "The Rivers of Babylon" started playing. I sang along.

Here ~~ here's 7 1/2 minutes of it for you all. :D

I WANT this as an earworm, so I'm listening now.

Though I like the original version better, so may have to go look for it to displace this earworm

Here's a Jimmy Cliff live version, though it takes about 2:30 to get to the familiar parts...

Posted by bixaorellana on Apr 6, 2012, 3:44pm
Ooooo ~~ LOVE the intro on that version, Kimby.

Look to see if there's anything that rings your bell in #173 here: http://anyportinastorm.proboards.com/ind....ead=1496&page=6

Are the links broken, bixa? It takes me to the grooveshark site and acts like it will load, but then gives an error message.

Too bad, cuz dey look like da ones I be jonesing for, mon!
Posted by kerouac2 on Apr 25, 2012, 6:07pm
This is one of the most horrifying earworms that I have ever had.

Posted by bixaorellana on Apr 25, 2012, 7:54pm
People have killed themselves for less! Geeez, that's bad.

I actually heard this the other day, so at least I know why it's stuck in my head. Either that or Dick Clark's death hit me harder than I'd thought.

Would anyone happen to know exactly how many times a person can hear If I Were a Carpenter inside her head before she ceases to mentally function?
Posted by htmb on Sept 29, 2012, 1:00pm
Three oughta finish you off.

I love this thread. Today I had Yakkity Yak doing the rounds of my tiny mind this morning.
