I have all the symptoms of flu, even though I have been vaccinated. Maybe Egyptian flunis different.
Food related: I am not hungry but I'll have a slice of toast and honey later. I am seeing the doc tomorrow.

Baz, flu is an ever changing virus. it has so many variants! Your GP will have vaccinated you for the strain they expect in the area where you live, but it is always hit and miss.

I wish you a speedy recovery, although if it is THE flu, it will take two weeks, so you should rest.

If Bazfaz has the typical French 'gastro' symptoms like diarrhea, clearly BigIain is hoping to finish him off.

I had my own condensed version about 2 weeks ago, but I do 48 hour diseases in 10 hours. Faster but unpleasantly intense. What is always surprising is that I can tell the very moment that it is finished. This does not necessarily mean that my appetite is back -- some of the inner equipment needs time to recycle before being used again at normal speed.

Mrs Faz drove me to the surgery this morning and the doc was pretty certain it was flu. To make certain I hadn't picked whirling dervish fever in Egypt she took a blood sample which Mrs Faz carried to the lab in St Pons. There has been no emergency call from the doc so all must be well - as well as one can be with a temperature of 39.5, muscular aches and shooting pains in the head.

The doc phoned this morning. Not flu. My bloodstream is seething with bacteria which would have led to pneumonia.

I had pneumonia ten years in England and it took the health service 3 weeks to discover this. Here it took 6 hours.

Food related: I am not hungry.

As mentioned elsewhere, Eat rice, and drink the wonderful water in which it has boiled. It works a treat.

I have just had an email from my cousin in London. He rang up to make a doctor's appointment - and was given a date four weeks hence.

My doctor does not even take appointments. He accepts all comers from 13:15 to 18:30 from Monday through Friday at 22€ a visit.

In the morning he makes house calls.

The last time I was in the UK and wanted to make an appointment, I couldn't. They said they wouldn't make any past a period of time (2 weeks?, 2 days?) and I had just to keep ringing back.

WOW! 22EUR?
My doctor here takes 50USD per consultation! Hmm, I'll have to talk to him about this.

The good news is that even the first day on antibiotics has brought a welcome improvement: a good night's sleep, no shakes, no pain.

Why, next week I'll be in the garden with the pickaxe.

hwinpp, 22 euros the fixed rate for seeing a GP in France. About two-thirds of that is covered by the state health service. Most folk have top-up private insurance which covers the rest. Except for 1 euro. The government decided that making us pay that would discourage us from frivolous time spent in the waiting room.

So a 50USD consultation fee is quite expensive...
I think in Germany it's 15EUR per quarter.

Here, a consulta with our family physician costs $300 MXP. That's 15.51 Euros or just under $20 USD. Sometimes we get "twofers" at the price of one, when my wife and I both go in at the same time for different ailments.

Twice now, he has given vitamin injections, a series of 6 shots over a week or more, and hasn't charged me.

Why is this topic in a FOOD Branch?
