Better today I hope? While you were gone a Free clinic was set up right here in our Port. I can attest to the best of care from our very own health providers.

Hang on in there auld yin!!! I trust that you are being royally waited on by the wonderful Mrs Faz? Once you are fully recovered I assume that you will be hamming it up for an additional week or so just for the attention?

You got to remember Baz that women expect us to be wimps when we're ill. Even if you aren't then it is best not to abuse them of this thought and take Iain's advice, for the sake of men everywhere.

Mrs Faz nurses and feeds me as wonerfully as you would expect. I am not half way through the antbiotics yet but progrress is good: no more of what the doc called neuralgic discharges (in normalspeak: shooting pains) in my head, no muscular aches, temperature at last normal. Mrs Faz herself is not well but being a heroic woman struggles.

Food related: prawns and pasta tonight.

Well, prawns and pasta seems a good indicator that things are indeed on the mend. Glad to hear it. Would you or the wonderful Mrs Faz recommend your ilnesses as a way of shedding a few kilos?

I'm sure you know to finish the whole course of tablets even if you feel better and not to "save a few in case it happens again"?

And as we all know, no alcohol, including wine, with antibiotics (I have been known to bend that rule).

I shall inspect the instructions soon about the no-wine rule.

Iain, an easier way to lose weight is the chillllllllli diet. On a Thai train years back I ate a hot chicken curry plus 12 chillllllllllllllllllis that had been put on my daughter's salad. I could eat nothing for over 48 hours. I rehydrated with water because even a Coca-Cola contained much too much for my gut.

This afternoon I thought I should have a little nap. After a of tossing and turning I must have gone to sleep because I was lying on a bed in a different room. I could hear footsteps outside and voices from the next room. The only two I recognised among all family and friends belonged to Ateach52 (hers is the kind of voice you cannot ignore) and Don Cuevos (whom I have never spoken to). I was only wearing a thermal vest and decided I sould put on pyjamas. I was searching in the chest of drawers when I realised these folk were about to visit me so I better get back in bed. When I was in bed I thought: hold on, how did I get here - I have no memory of doing it. I felt hands on my body and Mrs Faz's voice said: That is because you are dead.

I suggest swallowing 10 Mentos and then drinking a large glass of Coca Cola. If you are still alive after 60 seconds, you should be cured.

I don't feel like drinking wine yet but by the end of the week I suspect I shall feel well enough.
Bearing in mind Kerouac's warning that "we all know" we should have no wine with antibiotics I have just googled the matter. Kerouac is going to have to revise his opinion in line with the facts. Out of all the antibiotics only 4 are known to have contrary effects when alcohol is taken, and of the 4 only 1 is commonly prescribed. My tablets contain clarithromycine. This is unaffected by alcohol.
No more old wives' tales please. Life is difficult enough at present without being forbidden wine.

I thought that although there are no bad side effects taking alcohol and anti-bs, alcohol can stop them working effectively?

Any better? Hope you are back on the wine soon.

Tilly, what is it with that Humph? I have liberated you from the gloomy health and safety police. Alas, I just don't feel like drinking wine at present.

Ht, I am obviously on the mend but I don't feel like getting up yet. Tomorrow, I hope.

I take the side of those who advise against mixing wine with antibiotics. It stands to reason that the more chemicals your liver has to process the less the strength of your immune system.

Anyway you don't feel like drinking it so that's good.

That's the kind where you must be served like a complete invalid, isn't it? Do you have a little bell to ring for service or do you just moan? :D
