Topic Summary

We leave in a couple of hours on a bus to La Ciudad de México to spend a long weekend. I have been reading about the renewed eruption of Volcán Popocatépetl (40 miles east of the city, they say.) We are drawn, nevertheless, to whatever* fate has in store for us.

Will report back (if we can.)

*Mostly food.

Saludos,
Don Cuevas

I saw a beautiful news photo of the eruption.

Be sure to get that Hershey bar out of your breast pocket before approaching too closely.

Kidding aside, you do know that Popocatépetl has been set to alert level Yellow Phase 3 by the Center for Disaster Prevention, do you not?

Didn't feel even a rumble while there last week.

I'm surprised that Mexico has not yet thought of volcanic eruption festivals with lots of barbecued meats and grilled corn.

The International Mole Festival is on this weekend in Puebla, México.

That's closer to the volcano than is Mexico City.

Gad, I think my brain is really assimilated! When I saw the pic, I thought it was a reference to the movie, Last of the Mole People, which I think involved some kind of volcanic activity.

But no.

Recent pics of Popocatépetl were nervously impressive. Apparently some flights were disrupted because of the ash. I saw a notice from Puebla saying that today was nice and clear, though.
