Oh, I love songs like that! Why shouldn't music make you feel pleasant? They're all great selections & Lily Allen is a fun little actress, too. The first song's mood made me think of The Lovin' Spoonful -- music from long ago!

That sounded more like rock than pop to me...
Back to simplistic pop -- here is a chance for those who have never seen the Eurovision song contest to see how the lyrics and tune must be kept to an ultra minimum level of complication to have any chance across the entire continent. This year's winner represented Norway but he is actually from Belarus.

Oh, what the heck ~~ a little more Julieta Venegas. (I'm rather charmed by the video.)
If you want a little bit of me, you ought to wait for me, and move along at a slow pace, very slowly And bit by bit, forgetting the tempo and its speed, slowing your rhythm, going quite slowly, ever more slowly. Be sensitive and wait. Give me time to give you all that I've got. If you want a little bit of me, be patient and you'll see it will be better than rushing, taking flight. If you talk to me of love, if you tone down my life, it will take longer to know what I feel.

So much great stuff on this thread! I keep thinking we ought to get back to more contemporary stuff, though, the way it started out ... but still have to post these two:

Would you be wounded, Imec, if I suggested that Duffy (who I really like!) is more soul or R&B than pop? She's great in "Mercy", but her delivery there is rooted in Aretha (Chain of Fools or Mockingbird) or similar influences. Agree? Disagree?

I completely agree. But with all the folk (John Denver), country (Shania), light rock (Steve Miller) and so on on this thread, I thought we had branched out. I promise to do better .
