In the City. Fredericton was originally a military base, many years ago. That is very evident as you walk around down town:

hmm...can we think of these as 'bench statues'? One of the hundreds of small parks in Paris to sit and read, with benches as books. I love them.

Some public art sculptures in my fair city:

Named "Crossings" (but almost always called the "Red X's"), it's near the railroad tracks that turned a frontier outpost into a city in the late 1800's.

"Cattin' Around" (popularly referred to as the "Flat Cat") graces the outside of the parking structure called "Central Park".

"Returning" is a much-larger than life group of bronze trout on the river bank that children love to climb on.

This carving memorializes world class kayaker Brennan Guth who was drowned in a kayak accident in Chile some years ago. In his honor, a wave feature was constructed in the river near this sculpture, and now kayakers play - and compete - in Brennan's Wave.

This one is on the University of Montana campus, whose mascot is, you guessed it, the Grizzly.

I came across these bronze statues in the Parc de Bercy today. There are 21 of them. I saw that they are by the Algerian born French sculptor Rachid Khimoune and apparently there are the same 21 on display at the Shanghai World's Fair.

That's just the plaque for the Mexican child. Rachid Khimoune is not Mexican.

Love the enfants, but am bowled over by the magnificent bronze woman, especially the way you photographed her.

Gosh, Cartagena has wonderful statuary!

Ha ha ~~ I didn't realize a new post had started, and was puzzling over Tinker Bell, thinking she was part of the Cartagena group.
