I love the street lights they have in the City here. Some are replicas of time of gone by. Here is one for now:

I've been thinking of this subject for quite some time and have kept putting it off. Obviously Paris has some exceptional streetlights, but I always wanted to also show the ordinary streetlights. And every time I look at them, I think "how ordinary! how uninteresting!" But I think that now I will finally get over it and go hunting for some.

I can imagine that Paris has the most magnificent street lights on display. I'd be interested to see them. So, yes, Kerouac, do post some, please!

Before I start looking for the fancy stuff, here are some of the 21st century versions in my neighborhood. One thing to know in Paris is that every single post is brown -- this makes them disappear among the tree trunks and other vegetation and they are often invisible in photos of street scenes with lots of other stuff.

Yep, look quite modern. Here's one I took the other day:

Very nice, K.
Jazz, was the picture taken in Toronto?

Oooh....really like that bottom one. It must look great at night time, all lit up.

More of a "path light" than a street light. This path, BTW, is being paved this week, to the chagrin of the runners who use it. It's the old railbed of the Milwaukee Road.

Kimby, that would make such a nice walk, especially after dark with the lights all lit up.
Kerouac, are the lights in #20 stadium lights?
Which place are the ones in #21 from? It can't be Paris.

In #20 they are flood lights near the Bercy sports area in Paris.
#21 -- both are in Metz. (Potted palms in the second one!)

I love the juxtaposition of the round light globes and the rounded arched windows in Deyana's #8....and there's even a snoitcelfeR!

Wonderful b&w study, Rikita. There is something so human about that lighting fixture!
