They don't look like "ugly duckings" to me!

Swans are such nasty animals. Why don't we eat them?

Are you thinking of geese, K2?
And we do eat geese.

No, I'm wondering why we don't eat swans.

It seems so wrong to eat something so pretty!

I think swans have very little meat - and I have heard it doesn't have a very nice flavour.

At a certain time of the year ( maybe more often) Queen Elizabeth's "Counter of The Swans" goes boating on the Thames to take stock of the swans. Pardon me for not giving him his correct title!

Further back down the river the water board have launched their weed cutter ready for the season but a moorhen has immediately made a nest on top of the propellor housing - you can just about see it in this picture-

The power station appears to have been built on the water.

Lovely kimby , very lovely

Really enjoyed seeing your Indian photos Mark- are the men/boys fishing in no 2 of Dudh Talai ?
Posted by onlymark on Feb 22, 2013, 1:48pm
Mostly they are bathing lugg (with a bit of clothes washing). Some fishing does happen but mainly it is the far side of the trees in the big lakes.

Your photos make India look quite spacious Mark! I also love the first two photos in reply#167.

It can be spacious. You just have to find the right bits.
