I checked the flight by EasyJet from Gatwick to Luxor. It departs at 10:00 and arrive at 16:36 on the same day. I know that the time in Egypt is 7 hours ahead of London. I think the posting arrive time is not the local time. Would some one tell me what time will the flight arrive in Luxor?
Ah bless. First time travellers, don't you just love the way they never get their facts right. I'm being patronising though. We all had to start somewhere.

So, you DID contact her right away didn't you?
She might have come into a great deal of money that she needs your help getting out of her country, and will give you half of it, just for letting her use your bank account.

Some people are really weird.

I love TA! I have gotten some great advice from so many people but Kerouac2 has been especially helpful! A couple weeks ago over dinner I was telling my guy something that Kerouac had emailed to me and I "dropped his name" like I he was some Movie Star and that I had known him forever! Pat laughed for an hour afterwards!
This forum has made my trip planning not only easier but has given it so much more excitement! Paris - see you in June 2013! By that time maybe some of you will be "dropping my name"!

Frankly, those other sites are frightening.
FrenchMystiqueTours2 on May 22, 12 at 9:55pm Maybe you'll meet a French gentleman in the near future Then you can apply for a long stay visa for spouses of a French national. It's much easier to get. That's the visa my American husband got to move to France.
Maybe you can marry Kerouac...?
Coquelicot on May 22, 12 at 10:03pm I think she'd have to get in line to marry kerouac.

Or maybe I'll win the lottery. (It could happen!) Or maybe I'll make a lot of friends here and someone will know someone who knows someone who's willing to give me a couch to sleep on until I find a place.
Or maybe... maybe... my brother, who is a Canadian citizen, but who also lived in Europe (Germany) for a year, will want to go back and we can go together and help each other financially.
Life is mysterious. That much I've learned after six decades of it. You never know what will happen, or what can.
"Maybe you can marry Kerouac...? "
LOL! Well, I like what I glean about his political views.

Passion!...passion about Paris... No, this isn't about love of the city, the culture, the history, the special day to day and that moment, that one conversation....not about the 'secret' areas to visit...not even about the best shoes for the trip, clothing...

This was excellent:
Just returned from from a month in France and Italy. This is my first trip to Europe from North American, so I wanted to share my observations and opinions to maybe help others prepare for their trip, so here they are:
- European dual flush toilets are disgusting. Whoever thought not using much water in a toilet bowl should be shot. Nasty streaking and smells, just gross.
- The service model for restaurants doesn't work. In North America, service is generally customer oriented, friendly greetings, dedicated hostesses, and smiling waiters. This is generally not true in Europe due to the absence of the 15-20% tip incentive. Makes for a much less pleasant experience.
- This is not a myth. French people do like you much better if you try to speak French. Most sandbag and say they know 'little' english, but actually they know quite alot. Notice how many people on Fodors say they were lucky to find a person in the shop who happened to know english. They all really do, they just don't want to use it.
- Paint spray cans need to be abolished in Europe. I am not sure if this is because of the large amount of unemployed youth, but graffiti is everywhere, especially lining the train routes. Also, about every shopkeeper security door had graffiti on it in Paris and Rome. It's a problem in North America too in the inner cities, but it seems much more prevalent in Europe population areas.
- Food is overrated. Italian pizza, pasta, french brazziere food IMO is generally average at best at the typical accessible tourist spots. If you have a favorite italian restaurant in North America, you are sure to be disappointed by the food in Italy.
- Why no ice in drinks in Europe? Doesn't everyone enjoy water and soda better when it is icy cold. Especially in concrete jungle Rome where it can be blazing hot.
- The train system in Europe is great. It is embarrasing we can't have a public transportation system anywhere as good that in NA.
- French women don't smell bad. According to my observation, this myth is busted. They are also smartly dressed and attractive.
- What is with the fascination with Tartare foods in Paris, especially hamburger tartare? Haven't the french heard of trichinosis?
- The french police find it amusing that Roma gypsy girls are stealing American IPhones from Americans. If you are robbed in Paris, I bet you won't be in a hurry to return or recommend the city to others. This means less tourist dollars next year for French businesses. Not so amusing in the long run, is it?
- What we call historical in North America is recently built in Europe. In my town, we are fighting to save an 'historical' barn that was built 100 years ago. In Rome, you can dine next to a 2000 year old pagan temple. We having nothing that compares.
I really loved both countries and would return in a heartbeat.

Here is a real pearl for once, instead of a "ha-ha-isn't-this-ridiculous" pearl:
Paper and pen were faithfully brought all the way from Oz, but alas, I have succombed to the digital world. I admit that unless I use the keyboard (even if it is only on my smartphone), this trip has little hope of being recorded.
All the places that I've visited so far have been packed with tourists, so why the title? It is because 'The Road Less Travelled' refers more to the journey within. I am a cloistered Benedictine nun on sick leave for a short time from the monastic enclosure. During my leave, my Dad was diagnosed with a very aggressive and advanced form of cancer. Although sad, it was actually providential that our illnesses coincided, because I was able to support him through his treatment. Normally I would have been in the enclosure.
It had been an 18 year journey on this little trodden path. I have been sent as the founding member of 3 monasteries and have lived in Australia, New Zealand, UK, the Andes in Ecuador and the desert of Peru. The greatest and toughest journey was the one leaving the monastery for the first time in 15 years. Three years ago I saw the internet for the first time and sent my first email. It took me three months to work out how to turn on the TV, so many buttons and no dials. It took ages to figure out the multiplicity of new verbs such ad 'Google it'. People thought I was odd because I look fairly young but was behaving like some of their grandparents.
It will soon be time to return to our beautiful peaceful way of life. So before the time comes I desired to make a few pilgrimages. The first intention was for my Dad and his health. The next for the renewal of my vows. The third was given to me by my superior general (the big boss after the Lord and the Pope).
When I told Mother General about this trip, she said, 'Why not get a group together and make a pilgrimage in honour of Mother Foundress.' Mother Foundress is the wonderful person who founded our Congregation, her name is Marie Adele Garnier.
I said to M.General,' Mother, I can't even get one person to travel with me, how will I get a group!' With typical matter of factness ' Well, just pray'. And do you know, the very next day 3 people said they would go. But, not this year, next year. So my third task is a kind of reconnaissance, to organize the big group tour for next year.
At the moment I'm in a hotel in Cassino, Italy, beneath Monte Cassino, the heartland of Benedictine monasticism. But I'm still jetlagged and I have to catch a train early in the morning, so my account of my first few days in Italy will have to wait until I get to Sorrento. Until then, goodnight and God Bless.

This is lovely, Kerouac. Certainly different from the "Do you ever feel overdressed in Paris" thread. Would you mind sharing the name of the forum where it was posted?

I recognized the link right away Kerouac, I read it last night. I too am so hoping she is legitimate (no reason yet to believe not) because it would be amazing to read her thoughts and experiences.

What a shame -- it looks like the poster may have been unmasked as a troll after all. A bit too soon to be sure, though, but her reaction to the challenge was not convincing.

This is one of the strangest uses of quotation marks that I have ever seen. I also love the word custormers. I've seen a few of those.
I have stayed at your motel twice and "both" times I was served by the young girl named "Jonnette". She does her job "very well", and because of her the "first" time handling a "minor" problem, I came back to use your location again. She is the "type" of employee I "enjoy" meeting. She needs a "raise" in pay, because she goes the "extra" miles for the custormers.
