What is the last photo, Dahuffy? It's hardly a ghetto, is it? From what vantage point were the pictures taken. You got some real over-views!

These was taken from the convent. "Convento de la Popa". I will post more photos from the inside of it. I wish that we could have spent more than 1 day in this facinating city!

I love your pictures, Dahuffy. And I like the way the colors are pale on them -- sometimes that just works better than big bright colors.

This was one area that made me a bit upset. Soon after I took this shot, there was man "posing" his son (about 10yrs) next to this. Hanging all over it and making fun, like they were in some silly amusement park! They apparently did not understand the seriousness of this place. >:( ???

These ladies seemed to follow our tour bus from place to place. For $5.00US you could have your picture taken with her. My friend's daughters couldn't resist.

I love the statues.

I would NEVER pay $5 for the right to take a photograph. >:( In places like that, I learn to "steal" my photos.

Jeez, come to think of it, I have been told no fewer than 3 times in the last two weeks that I was taking forbidden photographs in France. I must be some sort of visual outlaw!

(I'll be posting the photos soon. :D )

dahuffy, have you posted yet in the Image Bank thread called "Wrought Iron"?

(I'm thinking you could also start a new one called "Arches" using 38 and 39 here for starters...)

I refuse to pay for photos too. Those women with the fruit on their heads were constantly on the lookout for anyone trying to steal a picture. So whenever I see a pic of Cartagena with those colourful smiling women with a basket of fruit on their heads, I know the picture was paid for.

Dahuffy, I wouldn't call those pictures above the ghetto area. It's where most of the population of Cartagena lives.
