It's trying to snow.

Bastard.
Posted by bjd on Jan 22, 2012, 1:24pm
It's 14°C here and the sun is shining although there are also some clouds blowing around.

I saw a picture of snow in Algeria on the BBC website yesterday.

Today was such a cool relief at 29C - lots of cloud, no wind. Now it's just started to rain - Yay!
Posted by mich64 on Jan 22, 2012, 4:32pm
Mark, to me, this would seem highly unusual for where you are, is that so?

Last night it was -20C and by Tuesday it is supposed to be 7C, the 7 is definitely unusual for us in January!

Cheers!
Mich

A rare occurrence mich, but it does happen. The rain turned to sleet, but fortunately no further.

They always show whenever it snows in Jerusalem or Beirut, so clearly Amman is nearby. And the other day, the news showed it snowing quite heavily in the Algerian Sahara region. It is the end of time.

Meanwhile, it is too warm in Paris -- up to 12° but it is supposed to go down to 9° most of this week.

70F's again,,,downright balmy, almost muggy. Saw my first mosquito of the year tonight. :-/

grey, dark, too warm and yet too cold.
Posted by kerouac2 on Jan 25, 2012, 8:28am
We continue our January journey through the damp tunnel of cloudy skies and temperatures perfect for the incubation of all sorts of diseases (5-10°).
Posted by kerouac2 on Jan 30, 2012, 6:14am
Hey, it is snowing in France today -- might even get to Paris by tomorrow.
Posted by bjd on Jan 30, 2012, 9:19am
We have bright blue sunny skies. It was quite cold this morning though -- just above 0°.
Posted by casimira on Jan 30, 2012, 11:47am
Warm,cold,warm, cold....warm....
My house is a wreck, summer clothes trying to co-mingle with winter clothes. Bottom line,I have too many clothes!!!
Posted by kerouac2 on Jan 30, 2012, 11:57am
No, it won't snow today after all in Paris. Tomorrow is another day.
Posted by bixaorellana on Jan 31, 2012, 3:37pm
It was only 64° (17.7777778 degrees Celsius) inside the house this morning. >:(

My computer weather widget says it's 62 outside right now in Xoxo. High today is supposed to be 82, with a low of 50.

Incidentally, if anyone is using Google Chrome or Firefox, I highly recommend the Forecastfox extension.
http://www.getforecastfox.com/ I didn't install the whole toolbar, so only have one cute little icon up in the right corner after the address bar -- where the little wrench is. I feel real affection for it.

It's snowing :P. Actually, just above 0° so not staying on the streets, but the roofs and lawns are getting white. So much for my camellias and azaleas which decided to bloom early this year. The snow will "burn" them.
Posted by kerouac2 on Feb 2, 2012, 8:22am
Blue skies in Paris, but the temperature is brutal (at least by Parisian standards) : -5°

They've been saying there's a possibility of snow for Sunday.
Posted by imec on Feb 2, 2012, 1:39pm
A high of 0c today (10 degrees above the normal of -10 for this date) and mainly sunny skies with little to no wind. I shall enjoy my ride today!
Posted by mickthecactus on Feb 2, 2012, 1:56pm
Exactly the same weather as I have here.

But I shan't be going riding..........
Posted by lola on Feb 2, 2012, 8:37pm
It's 67F, or ~20C here today, record warm. Tulips are 4" high, crocuses have been blooming for 3 weeks. Alarmingly nice.
Posted by kerouac2 on Feb 2, 2012, 10:53pm
You are horrible.
Posted by bjd on Feb 3, 2012, 8:41am
It just started to snow again, after what we had yesterday melted. But it's gray, cold (-5°) and windy too. Horrible.
Posted by kerouac2 on Feb 3, 2012, 10:52am
We are supposed to get some snow tonight -- and the temperature is supposed to stay well below 0°.
Posted by cheerypeabrain on Feb 3, 2012, 7:21pm
The temperature hasn't been above -1C all day here..and it's falling rapidly now. I just read -5C on the thermometer hung on the garden shed. We're sposed to get a couple of inches (or 4) of snow over the weekend..of course the weathergirl on tv referred to it as 100mm to make it sound more dramatic...purleeeeze.... ::)
Posted by bjd on Feb 5, 2012, 9:23am
It started snowing about an hour ago, no wind blowing though, so it doesn't feel as cold as the past few days.
Posted by tod2 on Feb 5, 2012, 10:13am
We are having a brilliant mild cloudy day after rain in the night. Should be pleasant on the deck of our fav restaurant at lunch today - 26C. Just perfect!
Posted by kerouac2 on Feb 7, 2012, 7:09pm
Woo hoo, they're saying we might get back up to 2° starting Sunday!
Posted by lola on Feb 7, 2012, 8:21pm
I kinda like the idea of measuring snow in mm.

We might get 200 mm tonight if we're lucky, but today I spotted a hyacinth blooming on a south facing slope. A blooming hyacinth, when they're supposed to wait until late March or so.
Posted by lola on Feb 8, 2012, 6:10pm
We ended up with 1 mm of snow, drifting up to ~3 mm in places.

I keep reading about sub-zero temps in Eastern Europe, but the papers neglect to say whether they're talking C or F. "22 degrees below zero reported in southern Switzerland" per NYTimes. If -22C, that's -7 F, and very cold by anyone's standards. The elevation makes a difference, of course.

Here it hovers around zero F a few times most winters. Where my daughter goes to school, in Minnesota, minus 22 F is not unheard of.

One of my colleagues has a son going to university in Lithuania. It is something like -37° there.
Posted by onlymark on Feb 18, 2012, 9:23am
It snowed in Amman last night.
