Topic Summary

terribly windy at my parents in Switzerland. but blue skies and warm.
Posted by kerouac2 on Apr 29, 2012, 6:48pm
Very windy in France as well, but suddenly freakishly warm in the northern and eastern sections -- it was 17° in Paris at dawn in spite of the rain.

I will soon approve if it stops raining for a bit, because apparently the drought is now officially finished and the water table is back to normal over almost all of France. Boy, has it been raining!

a friend was saying that meteorologists here in the UK apparently think:
a) it's not the "right" type of rain falling at the moment (falling too strongly so just slips into rivers and then directly into the sea rather than soaking deeply the earth.
b) not enough rain has fallen to replenish reservoirs.

There's no pleasing some...

the fourth or fifth really nice day in a row now...
Posted by auntieannie on May 1, 2012, 3:47pm
we've had sun today! yey! and temperatures immediately rise. phew! apparently same for tomorrow and then back to cold wet and miserable.
Posted by kerouac2 on May 1, 2012, 4:52pm
The temperatures skyrocketed today -- about 22° in sunny Paris. But it was a one day event and we are getting more rain tomorrow.
Posted by rikita on May 1, 2012, 8:41pm
wow, it is cold in paris. here i think it was 26 or 27 today, and it's been like that for a few days. supposed to rain and cool down on thursday though.
Posted by kerouac2 on May 1, 2012, 9:03pm
Yes, the heat is in the east -- it was 31° in Strasbourg yesterday.
Posted by bjd on May 2, 2012, 8:10am
We had 22° and sun yesterday and it felt like summer compared to what we have been having. On Monday it had been 13° with a cold wind from the north.

Today it's sunny again, but the wind is blowing from the south, which usually means more rain in a few days.
Posted by auntieannie on May 2, 2012, 10:23am
currently grey. the temperature will supposedly rise up to 18C today. we'll see...

Finally it has stopped raining and the forecast is dry for the first time in 2 weeks.
Posted by rikita on May 6, 2012, 5:15pm
temperatures dropped starting about thursday. yesterday it was so cold, i was shivering the whole time...
Posted by auntieannie on May 6, 2012, 7:39pm
It is soooo cold here tonight! they said there will most likely be frost in the morning. then it should get warmer. Waiting for the warmer weather with impatience.

As promised, a photo of the super moon taken from my deck.

Cheers

Nice one, mich. The effects of the clouds around it really makes the photo more atmospheric.

A lovely spring day here - 16 (60F) and mostly sunny. A high of 27 (81F) is expected tomorrow! I was hoping to do a long (40 to 50 mile) bike ride but I don't think it's going to happen now. :(
Posted by bjd on May 9, 2012, 3:51pm
25° and sunny here. It is supposed to get warmer over the next couple of days.
Posted by kimby on May 10, 2012, 1:11pm
In a word, BALMY!
Posted by auntieannie on May 11, 2012, 9:22pm
sunny! finally! the wind was still chilly. Can't wait for seasonal temperatures.
Posted by kerouac2 on May 11, 2012, 9:29pm
Hot yesterday and rainy but warm today. There is no logic to any of it.
Posted by rikita on May 13, 2012, 4:36pm
was really warm on friday, but rained strongly in the late afternoon. since then it is really cold and kind of rainy.
Posted by mich64 on May 13, 2012, 4:46pm
Bright with sunshine, warm at 22C and there is a gentle breeze. A beautiful day to celebrate our Mother's here.

Cheers

Looks like we are finally stabilizing to "normal May weather" even if Paris will only get up to 19° today. At least the sun is shining.
Posted by auntieannie on May 14, 2012, 10:02am
the sun shone here over the weekend, but I woke up to a rainy Monday morning.
Posted by auntieannie on May 14, 2012, 9:35pm
sunny afternoon! yey! more rain on the way, though!
Posted by rikita on May 15, 2012, 6:59pm

Posted by kerouac2 on May 15, 2012, 7:16pm
It is President Hollande who brought the rain with him.
Posted by hwinpp on May 16, 2012, 12:01am
The monsoon has come. 5 days of rain in a row. Thank God, it was getting very hot.
Posted by bjd on May 16, 2012, 10:43am
Not very hot here. Last Friday was 28°, but today it's about 17° so far (noon)-- sunny and a north wind blowing.
Posted by kerouac2 on May 16, 2012, 11:08am
