Yes, but never read his books. Heard him on the radio many times and he’s a bit of an oddball but ok.

Thanks Mick. Gotta love the name. As for being an oddball, I embrace a bit of quirkiness especially in a fellow gardener. Or as the saying goes, "You spot it, you got it". And, I would much rather read an oddball gardener's writing versus someone like Rosemary Verey.

That last name! Casimira, the easy way to get a taste of an author's style is to look him/her up on Amazon. Usually there is a "look inside" feature for each book. That allows you to dip into the writing much as you would when flipping through a book at a store or library. www.amazon.com/s?k=Bob+Flowerdew&i=stripbooks&ref=nb_sb_noss

And with only six words, Mick damns him to eye-rolling hell!

casimira, I read one of his earlier books (you don't forget a name like Flowerdew) back when he was hinting that he'd like to have a wife and now he has a wife, so time has passed and he's still writing. I think that book was where I first read about starting spring pea seeds in guttering. Do I need to add, not guttering currently in use on your roof? I hope not.
In addition to bixa's good suggestion of amazon, I looked him up on archive.org and several of his books are there. A guest can search a book using whatever search words they want whereas a member can have access to the whole book for an hour or often more.

Many thanks for the feedback good people. I did peruse some of the links posted and got a taste of Mr. Flowerdew's writing. There are four books of his listed in the catalogue. One of them that really piqued my interest is one on companion planting, a practice I am/was familiar with and embrace.
(I forgot about the thread I started on Garden Writers. Please feel free to move this discussion to that thread as you see fit Bixa) Done!

I am currently exploring a new garden writer I read about in the NYT. Bob Flowerdew is a British organic gardener. He has penned several books and I am entertaining the purchase of one he wrote on Companion Planting.

Thank you Wizard!
I went ahead and ordered the aforementioned book on companion planting. At only $4.98 USD I couldn't pass it up.

I received my new book on Companion Planting by Mr. Flowerdew and am very pleased with it so far. His writing is not too technical and at the same time chock full of new data. I am very pleased with my decision to purchase this guide.
