I could have predicted that and I spent 15 years as a vegetarian.

i like surimi. i also like some seitan sausages (the very small ones that are similar to nürnberger sausages). i don't mind vegan bolognese sauce and chili con soya and similar things either.

So, here I am eating surimi again and since I am in front of my keyboard, I decided to Google it a bit.
My question was "Is surimi good for you?" but you know how Google tries to outguess you, so the following immediately appeared after I had typed "Is surimi..."
Is surimi bad for you Is surimi kosher Is surimi gluten free Is surimi healthy Is surimi cheaper
I typed out my full question anyway and selected a couple of websites. The main thing that I read is that it isn't "bad" for you except for containing too much salt. Surimi itself is about 50% pollock or other white fish mixed with other "stuff." In most cases, it is still more expensive than tinned tuna, which is better for you. However, I am not entirely sure if it is still true, because that information was dated about ten years ago. I'm sure that the surimi industry has made new advances in cutting costs, because they have certainly not been concentrating on making it taste better.
Another website said that surimi was an outright abomination and went out of its way to make it sound as disgusting and poisonous as possible, basically the seafood version of Chicken McNuggets (which I also have no trouble eating, even though I don't think I've had any in about 2 or 3 years).
I will continue to eat surimi from time to time.
