I had some Spanish vino tinto, labelled ¡Despierta!. Not bad.

I'm having a well deserved Leffe Blonde after making a hectic excursion to a hypermarket.

Coffee, right now. This evening, some leftover Chilean chardonnay. In between, mostly water, perhaps some herbal tea.

Our friend who recently travelled to Cuba sent us a pound of coffee beans that we tested out this a.m. A nice dark roast although, a wee bit bitter compared to our usual French roast Sumatran beans we use.

You might try mixing the two. That is exactly how I feel about the Cuban coffee my friend who spends a lot of time there brings back.
I love the Sumatran coffee. Don't remember whether Gayo is Sumatran; it is certainly Indonesian but I don't remember which island - obviously I could look it up.

After my Christmas eve meal, a generous snifter of cognac seems appropriate.

And cognac is warming me again tonight. Did not realise that it was my last drink before the "gastro" attack.

Water. For the whole of January.
I also stopped diet coke - had one on 10 days. Yesterday we went my daughter and I for a cocktail. We found all cafes closed bar one (hihi bar one). We ordered 2 Caracas : several juices and I over tipped the bartender even by U.S. Standards. (I never tip so don't blow it on other forums...). Gave him 50pc tip. I was liking it so much to have been asked by my daughter ... Marie, 6.

I'm having some pretty good Moroccan wine. I have always liked North African wines. The Algerian wines are quite hearty and go best with heavier dishes (couscous royal, tagine...). The Moroccan wines are a bit more elegant and can go with anything. The Tunisian wines fit between the two others but are not exported as much.

Cider mixed with gin is perhaps not the best idea in the world, but it is easy to drink.

Since the world might be ending next week, I just made myself a caïpirinha with fresh lime, lemon and passion fruit, and I am ready to face anything.

I suspect that the Tunisians drink their own wine. Many of the Tunisians I know (who live there) are anything but fervent Muslims. Unfortunately there are others who are among the worst fundies - atoning for the largely secular lives they have lived?

Water in the glass, espresso (a bit long, moka) in the cup. I don't usually mention water because I almost always have some tap water in a bottle next to my desk. Important not to take it for granted as even nowadays many people don't have access to clean drinking water.

Well you can also consider the fact that just about all of us are using potable water to flush our toilets. At least most of the new public buildings in Paris now use either rain water or the non-potable street washing water network for the toilets. I wish I could.

When I was about 13-14 we lived in a small village in Bedfordshire where very little happened....I was the only girl my age in the village (altho Myrt lived in another village nearby) My Parents would visit a farm where they sold wine in the wood...Mum was particularrly partial to their apricot wine. When my Parents were out I would sneak a glug of the deicious wine and topped it up with tap water (they never said anything...) ANYWAY I was out at a garden centre/farm shop the other day and I saw APRICOT WINE! so I bought a bottle....memories memories.... *sigh* I'm pleased to say it's still lovely..

Sounds lovely.
I also wish we could use "grey water" in our toilets. Such a waste to purify it to that extent to have it used for... At least Livia is drinking relatively clean water when she drinks from the loo - my bad, means I forgot to close the lid.

my mom keeps a plug in her bath tub when she showers (here it is typical to have the shower and bath tub combined, i suppose that is not the case everywhere), and afterwards collects the water in buckets, and uses that to flush the toilet. of course, this is an individual house in the countryside, and water and waste water cost her a lot, so it is mainly to save money.
for me, cost wise it wouldn't make much difference to do it like that, as the cost is split evenly among all people living in the house. and environment-wise, i was told once that the pipes in berlin were built for bigger amounts of water than is usually used, so they are regularly flushed with water to keep them in working order, so any water i save will be used up, anyway ...

I opened a bottle of absinthe that I have had for more than a year. I had never tasted it before, particularly since it was banned in France in 1914 and not allowed again until 2000. I quite like it, but it is definitely lethal. The bottle that I have is 120 proof (60°).

You have reminded me that there is a practically full bottle of green liquid in a bottle marked Absynthe, on my bar counter. I bought it because I wanted to try it - I did not like it at all but will try to invent a cocktail that will disguise the taste somewhat.
Last night was warmer than usual so I made myself a very large 'Pink Tod'! I invented this drink during the summer. Here is the ingredients - (adjusted to your taste)but mine was something like this:
2 tots of Tequila Reposado 1 tot Cointreau A splash of bitters or Campari The juice of a lemon or lime - I used a whole one All poured over a lot of very large ice blocks and topped up with a mixer can of Dry Lemon.
The fresh lemon juice cuts a lot of the sweetness.
