I just rediscovered Marianne Rosenberg, eurodisco from the late 70s:
Her father survived a concentration camp as a half Rom.

I posted this yesterday on a military forum that I am a member of. What would Christmas be without this John Lennon song?

And lets on forget this one (I post this every Christmas): Do they know it's Christmas - Live Aid: (I love the fact that Paul Young starts it off, since I met in some years back)

I LOVE Dr. John, and have his "Goin Back to New Orleans" album.
Till I saw this video, though, I assumed he was black! Guess I didn't look closely enough at the photo of him in his Mardi Gras finery on the cover...

We belonged to a bird Who cast his shadow on this world You were a blessing and I was a curse I did my best not to make things worse, for you It isn't true
I always knew this would be our fate This is what happens when we separate This is what happens to all dead weight, eventually
We may as well be made of stone We can't be formed
One Wing will never fly Neither yours nor mine I fear we can only wave goodbye
One wing will never ever fly Neither yours nor mine I fear we can only wave goodbye
One wing will never ever fly dear Nether yours nor mine I fear we can only wave goodbye

The video you posted didn't open for me, HW, so I went searching through youtube. I have to say I really prefer her older, richer, more mature voice: [youtube]

Guess I didn't look closely enough at the photo of him in his Mardi Gras finery on the cover... I am so thrilled Kimby to hear this.He is a very nice man in "real life" as well. A true Southern gentleman .I did a garden for him this past year, and we have become friends. He will very much love hearing that you thought he was black,he's just that cool Goin Back to New Orleans is one if not my favorite of his work. The opening cut gives me shivers down my spine. He also wrote an autobiography some years back entitled,"Under a Hoodoo Moon". A good read.

Either Way - Wilco
Maybe the sun will shine today The clouds will blow away Maybe I won't feel so afraid I will try to understand Either way
Maybe you still love me Maybe you don't Either you will or you won't Maybe you just need some time alone I will try to understand Everything has its plan Either way I'm gonna stay Right for you
Maybe the sun will shine today The clouds will roll away Maybe I won't be so afraid I will understand everything has its plan Either way

I didn't know Dr. John had written an autobiography!
When I first heard the Goin Back to N.O. album I was stunned. There are so many songs on it my grandfather used to sing, but I thought he'd made some of them up. I mean, who would think there was a real song called "I'll Be Glad When You're Dead, You Rascal You"? Since my grandfather could remember showboats, I'd love to know how old some of those songs are.

Yaaaay ~~ love it! (a better way to commemorate the day than "We Three Kings" ;D) My grandmother died 16 years ago today. One of my earliest memories is of her rocking me and singing "Little drops of water, little grains of sand, make the mighty ocean and the pleasant land." I love this song, which incorporates my earliest song into it: listen.grooveshark.com/#/song/Running+From+Mercy/5843172

Happy 12th Night. I love the idea that Carnival season is starting.
(my computer's acting up, I think, bixa, and won't play your song correctly. I'll try again later.)

I love Sultans of Swing too. We were shopping for car stereos when it was current, and heard it over and over and it is ingrained in my memory. The other tune from our car stereo shopping days was by Gerry Rafferty, Right Down the Line.
Love the little clicking sounds....
(How do you make the link to YouTube be a picture like you all do?) OK I'm trying it to edit this... and had to re-edit it, to post a link to a different YouTube version as the original one was yanked due to a copyright issue. Too bad, the sound was WAY better on the other video...
