The season 2 finale of The Handmaid's Tale closed out with this song (it was so appropriate btw) and while it happens to be an all time favorite of mine (my former beloved dog PoBoy also loved it), it is now stuck in my head 2 days later.
And, they didn't even play the whole song...

Boy, they were wild and wooly with the song choices for that episode, weren't they?!
Maybe I'd better listen to Burning Down the House a few more times -- anything to get "Lay Lady Lay" out of my head, where it's been stuck for days. No idea where it flew in from, either.

Email I received today from my sister, in its entirety:
I woke up with a bad headache and the song "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" as an earwig. Connected??

One of the TV shows is currently using "Jingle Bell Rock" as their theme music at the moment, and it takes at least an hour to purge it from my brain.

I saw an article about PBS and children’s educational programming.
It brought this back to mind, and now I can’t get it out of my head...”conjunction junction, what’s your function?...”
It takes a few seconds to get to the featured song.

I've never heard that before and have already forgotten it.

I had a really good earworm going on in my head yesterday.
I was visiting the 8 song game thread and encountered Van Morrison's song "Cleaning Windows".
I rarely listen to the music videos posted but intentionally listened to this one because it's a song I really like.

The one I have now has been around for three days or so, drifting in and out. It's "I Dream of Jeannie With the Light Brown Hair" and I have no idea where it came from. I only know the first two lines of the song, making it a particularly irritating earworm.

What is the second line Bixa? I can't remember. ( )

Borne like a vapor on the summer air. God in heaven. Hands over my ears The blackbirds in my garden are creating my current ear worm ... I cannot get away from " I'm a Barbie girl in a Barbie world" bizarre I know but their happy song sounds so much like it

Since I don't know the song, I looked it up & watched part of the youtube video.
Sometimes people report earworms here that don't seem catchy enough or don't rhyme compellingly enough or in some other way wouldn't appear to be sufficently earwormy.
But yours, Huckle, has all the earmarks of a persistent earworm. You're doomed.

Since finishing Narcos the theme is running through my head. I believe it’s a chacha beat, but don’t really know Latin music.
Lyrics: I am the fire that burns your skin Soy el fuego que arde tu piel
I am the water that kills your thirst Soy el agua que mata tu sed
The castle, the tower, I am El castillo, la torre, yo soy
The sword that guards the flow La espada que guarda el caudal You the air that I breathe Tú el aire que respiro yo
And the moonlight on the sea Y la luz de la luna en el mar
The throat that I long to wet La garganta que ansio mojar
That I fear to drown with love Que temo ahogar de amor And which desires will you give me? ¿Y cuáles deseos me vas a dar?
You say, 'my treasure just look at it' Dices tú, 'mi tesoro basta con mirarlo'
And yours will be Y tuyo será
And yours will be Y tuyo será

Yes I'm afraid so Mick. Anyway I just left it because if the video plays to the end another dance starts. I had no idea it has swept worldwide, getting nuns, priests, the army and hundreds of ordinary people joining in. My grandsons will hopefully record some of their moves for me. The second video shows the singer who sings in that husky voice.

You are so right that the song is absolutely lovely, Tod! After you mentioned about all the people dancing it around the world, I remembered that I saw a video of nuns and monks dancing to it. At the time, I wondered about the song, which is of course great. At any rate, it has its own wikipedia entry: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerusalema

I have a neighbor in the rear of my property who built himself a "man cave". Every time the weather gets cooler he opens up his back door and blasts his music. Usually in the late afternoon hours or "happy hour" in his case. Last evening he cranked it up. It's usually classic rock, some of it not too bad. it's just that it's so f'n loud and comes directly into my second story balcony doors and master bedroom. One of the songs that was being blasted is Grand Funk Railroad's "I'm Getting Closer To My Home". On and on it went and was driving me up the wall. Sure enough, this a.m. it is still in my head as I lie here in bed sipping my coffee and browsing the internet.

Apologies to all for this terrible doggerel, but the tune has been going through my head & the first two lines came to me unbidden.
I have a feeling Casimira is the only person who will know this song right off the bat ~
Now he's gone, you feel so glad 'Cause he's the worst president we ever had Mm hm mm, oh yeah 'Tain't it the truth He's leeeaving, go on and give a high five You know you hate him every way, but now our country's gonna thrive. Now he's gone and that's so rad, 'Cause he's worse, so much worse than bad. Mm hm mm, oh yeah 'Tain't it the truth, (yeah) I say, 'tain't it the truth It was like hell, a big assault on liberty Couldn't everybody see? I'm sorry to have to bring up this ugly history, the crap that came down on our poor country. We voted him out, it'll be a big rout of the Kushners, McEnany, & Barr will lose his clout. He'll be gone, and we feel so glad 'Cause he's the worst president we ever had Mm hm mm, oh yeah 'Tain't it the truth
