Religion and money subjects tend to ruin relationships but I remember thinking that as a child what K wrote.

The symbol of Jesus on his cross is supposed to remind every Christian that He died for humankind. To try and entice us to follow his words and actions as opposed to the words and actions of human beings. But we can all see that it doesn't really work. Pesky human nature.

I certainly know that if such an image of a real human being were published in the National Enquirer or Hello!, there would be such an outcry that those publications would be closed down. And yet the religious images are considered fit and even desirable for small children.
Okay, I'll shut up now.

Why shutup now after you've insulted and trashed someone else's beliefs even after they've expressed being insulted and offended?

What have I trashed?
I am waiting with bated breath an explanation and a defense of this symbol. Perhaps you will provide it, casimira, since you seem to understand why it is worthwhile.

casi is as offended as a patriot whose flag has been stomped on. It's only a symbol.
K2 didn't disparage the religion itself, just questioned the choice of a symbol to represent it.
I hadn't thought about it before, but I sure can see his point.

... I do understand that this is not the place to have this discussion. This is a volatile topic. May I suggest that it be taken to Port and Starboard?

I cannot and will not "explain and defend" to you something that is sacred to me and I obviously could never provide you with an" understanding of why it is worthwhile" to me. This is really upsetting me and I would prefer it to please stop. I was under an impression that when this forum began we would try and respect one another's beliefs particularly in regard to our religious beliefs.

Oh, that was days ago. They might even bury him sooner or later. Perhaps he will be resurrected after 40 days, however.

When I posted, it was breaking news. However, there is one report that the results were leaked on the 25th.
I'm sort of surprised because I figured that doctor would somehow be found not culpable.

Much, much later...
We saw This Is It a few weeks ago and I was totally blown away. The folks who said Michael Jackson wasn't up for the London concerts were so wrong. The concert would have been one of the best ever, by anyone, and it was fascinating to see the footage of auditions, rehearsals and interaction between "MJ" and his collaborators. He was definitely in charge, knew what he wanted, and was at the top of his form.
When he was asked why now, after 10 years not performing live, he replied "Because my children are old enough now to appreciate what I do, and I'm still young enough to do it."
If you rent the DVD be sure to watch some of the extras. It's all good. And I'm not a particularly big fan of his. Until now.
