A gusty wind blew up today and snapped off 2 of my French bean plants.
Tres mal.

I only saw those black tomatoes the other day for the first time.
Bummer about the bean plants. Will the parts that are left start growing again?

The only dark tomatoes that I can get are the patented kumato variety but they look like the bastard child of a normal tomato and a black tomato.

There is quite a big variety of black tomatoes to grow but you don’t see many in the shops. I have grown Black Krim a few times which is a delicious tomato.
Unfortunately the beans snapped off at the base so that’s that. And I had only just started picking them this morning.

Oh, mega-bummer about losing them when they were just starting to produce.
I went to a kitchen garden in a castle the other day, and there were black tomatoes growing. I had to double-check the leaves and flowers to convince myself they were really tomatoes. They were marked "bladgewassen", which apparently means "leaf crops" in Dutch, something tomatoes are not. They looked like the ones in Cheery's picture.

I really like dark tomatoes called Noir de Crimée (maybe a relative of Black Krim?). Anyway, I grew some last year and they became massive because I wasn't around to watch them and pick them at the right moment. I prefer them a bit smaller.

At the other end of the scale I am growing a white tomato called White Tomesol. Actually it’s the palest yellow. Supposed to be a big tomato with superb flavour. Going very well so far in this weather.

There were some at Monoprix today when I went, but they are selling them for 5.99€ a kilo, compared to 2.29€ for "normal" tomatoes, either loose or on the stem.

They cost 4€50 here, less at the market but the good tomatoes are just coming into season now.

I wonder if the yellow zucchini will taste like the regular green kind, or if it will be more like summer squash. I absolutely adore summer squash, but they are unavailable in Oaxaca. There is something very similar being sold here right now. It's a thick, smooth golden yellow (& costs like gold) tender squash that tastes like the good old crookneck summer squash I know and love.

You may need to become a vegan unless you slash the throat of some small delicious animal to accompany this bounty.

My wife told me to bring some zucchinis and eggplant and small tomatoes (we call these cherry-tomatoes - tomates cerises) so here I am carrying two backpack, one on my belly, quite heavy and full of vegetables. Wonder what a pickpocket would say if he manages to steal it.

They don't look appetizing, but I guess they could be interesting in a salad.

Not yet but they are reputed to be very tasty. Just had Costoluto Fiorentina tomatoes 🍅 with my lunch. Seriously delicious.
Can I recommend halved cherry tomatoes with pomegranite seeds. That is really delicious.

Yeah, the damned things grow like weeds here and you can buy large cupfuls of the seeds -- all wasted on me.
