www.ted.com/index.php/OpenTranslationProjectinformation below extracted from websiteTED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader. The annual conference now brings together the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes). TEDTalks began as a simple attempt to share what happens at TED with the world. Under the moniker "ideas worth spreading," talks were released online. They rapidly attracted a global audience in the millions. Indeed, the reaction was so enthusiastic that the entire TED website has been reengineered around TEDTalks, with the goal of giving everyone on-demand access to the world's most inspiring voices. The TED Open Translation Project brings TEDTalks beyond the English-speaking world by offering subtitles, interactive transcripts and the ability for any talk to be translated by volunteers worldwide. We launched the project with more than 250 translations, 50 languages and 100 volunteer translators. It's an ambitious project ... that radically enhances the accessibility of the talks -- for the hearing-impaired, for whose who speak English as a second language, for search engines (which can now index the full transcript of a talk), and of course for the vast audience of non-English speakers worldwide.

Bixa, this is a truly inspiring site. It is almost overwhelming (where to begin?) and I have listened to only one, Smash fear, learn everything by Tim Ferriss. There are so many, it was a random first choice. A few moments into it (16 minutes), I realized that he was the author of The Four Hour Work Week, which I read most of, given that I seem to have been doing this for the last year and a half. He is 31 years old and talks about fear of learning or of change? He notes the significent difference between being effective and being efficient. Within his 16 minutes, he talks about how he faced his fears of swimming, of learning new languages, and of ballroom dancing. Another important point he made was that the perceived complexity of a task will grow with the time allotted to fulfill it.
This is an incredible resource...thank you.
