Good grief, Tod! Is it common for a pack of them to come into your yard? That's pretty scary. What are you going to do?

They are adorable, but don't they damage stuff? And aren't they little thieves who like shiny things? (like human children).
I love mick's little dog, who has such a comfy bed.

Ha! Ha! YES, it is a weekly visit on average Bixa. I love them. I watch the mothers with babies still clinging on for dear life or the little scamps making their own way in the world. Lots of mums come to the window and I hand them a piece of bread or fruit. Their little pale pink nipples hanging down ready to feed yet another baby! I love it when their little bony fingers touch my hand ever so briefly.....aren't I the lucky one?
No they don't like shiny things....that's Magpie territory. They like FOOD! Bread, fruit, especially bananas but there is no surprise there!

You are a constant wonder and surprise, dear Tod. More power to you!

I am trying to find the thread 'Walks with Angel'. Perhaps it has been deleted? If not, then maybe K2 could find it for me and move this post there.
Yesterday, I lost my precious dog and long term companion, Angel. She was now old and weary and became sick. By the end she could not even get up. She had multiple health issues, and had been sick for some time. I had hoped she might see another summer, go walking, chase leaves, smell the air and enjoy the sunshine. But it was not to be. I feel very sad today and don't know quite how to handle this kind of pain. I guess with time it will lessen. I will never forget her, memories of her are etched on my heart.
RIP Angel.
xx

My condolences Deyana. I hate losing one of my fur babies. My German Shepherd turned five today and it made me a little sad. I don't like it when she gets another year older.

My condolences, pets like Angel become full members of the family and so are accorded the same respect.

K2, thanks for the link to my 'Walks with Angel' thread, but I guess I will just leave the post here now.
Thank you for the kind and thoughtful words everyone. It's been a sad time for me and for my family. Angel was like a member of our family and it's taking some time to come to terms with our loss.
Kimby, I know how you feel, this I can say. We love them and they love us and one day they leave us. We can't change this, their lives are never long enough. Stay strong. ((hugs)) to you.

Thanks, deyana. Blood results later today. We'll find out whether our loving care is turning things around. (I'm guessing not.)
Sorry for your loss. Can we look forward to puppy pictures someday?

I hope your loving care equals more time with you precious kitties, Kimby.
I'm not really thinking of getting another dog right now. I'm not sure if it's ever going to happen.
Maybe.

We had to be cat less for about 3 weeks after we lost Boodles because of a trip that we had to take. Longest 3 weeks of our lives!
I suspect we will lose Mia first as she's stopped eating. Otherwise her mood is good, so we're watching and waiting. Mo is doing better, acting normal despite the mass in his gut. When he dies, we'll get another cat. Two was great, but maybe only one this time.
And maybe it will be Mr. Kimby's mom's cat, if she has to go to the nursing home...

There is an empty place and space once a beloved pet passes on, Kimby. The silence can be deafening.
There are so many deserving cats and dogs out there that need homes. Maybe Mr. Kimby's mom's cat may be the answer one day for you.
I would only adopt a dog from a shelter, if it came to it. Angel was a sweetheart, but she was a handful as well. And right now, I am real busy with real life commitments, but I might change my mind about getting another do one day.

We may end up with MIL's cat sooner rather than later, as she broke her hip and may not be able to leave the nursing home, which means her kitty will need a new home.

We always planned to get a dog when we retired...well I retired last September and we've been looking ever since. As we are 'mature' we didn't really want a puppy...but wanted to rehome a rescue dog. I found a super-cute patterdale terrier on the Dogs Trust website in February. All we know about his previous owners is that they worked and also had a 'full social life' so the dog was left home alone for a lot of the time. He's 13 months old so young enough to train (in theory). We have had a bit of reactive barking and he doesn't like high visibility clothing, motorbikes, bikes, moblity scooters, one of my sisters (her fault entirely) joggers or shouty children...but aside from that he is scrumptious and has enriched our lives a whole lot. His name is Django (after Django Reinhardt)and he's adorable....also answers to Barky McBarkface and other things I couldn't POSSIBLY mention on here....

Congratulations Cheery! I do just love it when they tilt their heads and perk their ears listening for something they would like, perhaps a walk or a cookie! Here is to years of joy and companionship.

The precious hearts arrived home yesterday morning! Everything went fine except for later in the afternoon when it was walk time and we got caught in a thunderstorm and were soaked. The theory is that this was the human's fault. LaGatta, I hate to be a pest, but ......... when I saw your name as the most recent contributor to this thread I quickly clicked, hoping that you were finally showing us the lovely Livia.

Yes, I have to figure out how to get her photos out of the cloud. I'm really not good with tech for someone who works on a computer all day.

Oh he is SOOOOO adorable. I just want to cuddle him to bits, although he looks like he'd rather run and play than endure cuddles.
