Beautiful, Don C. and all. what a good idea for a thread. Love the curtain rods, bixa. gyllen, I guess you live in the capital of WV? What an incredibly beautiful and challenging-to-drive-through state. My impression passing through was they put the Charleston in the only flat stretch of land large enough for more than a few buildings.

You're right about Charleston, lola. It does have some of the flattest land in WV. I'm a 2 1/2 hour drive north on I-79, in a little burg called Fairmont. It's not my favorite place to live, but my sister and her hubster, their son, his wife and kids all reside here, so this is where I ended up after a decade and a half of floating around the state. The state is now building a connector that will make it easier for future gamblers to get from I-79 to downtown Fairmont and onto the riverboat casinos that are coming, but which no one will admit to.

This is out my slider when I have the laptop in the living room. We have the little patio that goes to the wall. Outside the wall is common area and then the other townhouses are in the background. We would be looking north.

"Riverboat" casinos. Feh. We have them here, too. It sounded old-timey and quaint when the slipped them past the voters.

I adore your view, T63! (and *applause* on the uploading )That is a wonderful xeriscape. I love your rosemary and the roses, especially the furiously blooming little balls of fire on the left. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jazz ~ it was late and I was so involved in me that I didn't respond to something you said about curtains yesterday. Remembered it after turning off the computer last night and it occurred to me first thing this morning: "... I covered an 18 foot wall of my bedroom..." Eighteen feet?! You have one wall in your bedroom that is 18 feet long? Dang.

Deyana, it shows up for me. I simply can't figure out why you can't see it. It's in a "Public" Album, so there should be no difficulty. Lola saw it, didn't you, L? Here's a URL link to the photo. picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Woa_vjYFTg-Jeutz9OP2yw?feat=directlinkI had some problems embedding photos on Mexconnect.com the other day, where some, but not all would show up and then the other would appear bt the first would not. "It's the Web."

No, it's stooooooopid Picasa. I just installed Picasa to see if I could use it to post a picture here. I don't much like Google products anyway, and I downright hate Picasa. Read my thoughts about it here, Reply #30. So, it's not you all & it's not DonC.

Deyana - I've been out all day and now it's dark again, so I'll take my pics tomorrow and post them.
Bixa - I love your curtain rods. Your house looks tidy and neat from what I can see of it. T63 - great cactus in Tucson...I was asking someone how to pronounce Tucson....is it like 'Tooson?'....or do you pronounce the 'C'?
Imec - it must be a joy for you to glance out of the window....
Don C....I can't see one picture but I can see the one showing the rocks.

Spindrift, it is actually pronounced Toosan, making the a long I think that is as close as I can come to it. Some people always spell it wrong, Tuscon

Yes, Don C. I can see the lovely mountain shot on my current PC and the IMac I used this morning. Misty morning light, an iron fence with a gate.
It's all hocus pocus to me, anyway, to be able to do any of this.

"Riverboat" casinos. Feh. We have them here, too. It sounded old-timey and quaint when the slipped them past the voters. Yeah, it's the only explanation for the fact that $millions$ are being spent to bring people into a downtown area that has absolutely nothing to offer anyone. My building is undergoing a $12 million restoration and a new restaurant is being constructed across the street. WV is very conservative when it comes to gambling, but it may be the only thing that the politicians think can possibly breathe life back into it. This is what I wish the view was, looking at my house! farm1.static.flickr.com/193/502204500_2643ffad43_m.jpgBut, this is the view from my computer chair on the inside. farm1.static.flickr.com/208/510792850_af28b2edb9_m.jpg

Gyllen ~~ all you have to do is put image tags around those urls and your pictures will show nice as pie: Paste down the url as above: farm1.static.flickr.com/208/510792850_af28b2edb9_m.jpgHighlight it, then click on the Image button . It will look like this: [img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/208/510792850_af28b2edb9_m.jpg"] in the message box. Your post will have this in it: That's nicer, isn't it?

This is the view from my bedroom window. The tree, which is over the road, is far higher than my house. During the afternoon it excludes all the sun (if there is any).... This is the view from my bathroom. The tree on the left is my self-seeded sycamore. It has to be severely pruned every 3 years otherwise it would exclude the sun from others' houses.

This is my favorite picture of the wintertime view out my bedroom window. It had been snowing like hell a few minutes before, then the sun suddenly came out.

Twice in the past two weeks I've grabbed for my camera to photograph two spotted fawns outside my window for this thread, only to realize my husband had left the camera somewhere other than where it belongs. By the time I found it, the Bambi twins had moved on.
(Remind me to post "people who misplace my camera" on the pet peeve thread!)

Not to mention the fact that there is a wildlife thread around here somewhere.

Where?
I thought "the view out my window" was this thread, and I like my view best when the fawns are frolicking in the lawn. That's all.

Beautiful. I was about to say it looks somehow Japanese - and then I re-read and saw that one of the trees is a Japanese Maple. Turns out I ain't so dumb. (save your comments, all of you!)

Really, really lovely Jazz. I get so excited when I see other people veer into an unconventional, truly creative style of landscaping, particularly in the front of their home which is almost always some patch of mundane plantings. And ,it so compliments the style of your house as well , the different blue tones mixed with the hues of the cedars and then the maple. Not to mention your low maintenance sensibility.

Just outside my house last week. A housewarming party. The three girls with their back to me are cutting, chopping and peeling the ingredients. This is what the street looks like in the evening (posted somewhere before):
