Within the Huernia, Stapelia, etc. family, do you have every single one there is?!
And on that Avonia thing at the bottom -- are you one of those billionaires who went to space? I can't imagine any other place you might encounter that plant!

I think I may have asked this before, but what happens if cacti are placed in rich and moist soil? Does it kill them?

By and large yes but you might get away with it for a while plus some are more forgiving than others.

From the Blah blah blah thread ~ Your post Sept 24 2009. Stenocereus beneckii. Mick, I cut that cactus up some time back & got rid of a big hunk of it. This is what I have now. Sorry the picture of the little one is blurry. It started raining as I took the picture & I ran off to get my clothes off the line. Edited because I have more pictures. I knew I must have more pieces of the S. beneckii, but when it started raining I scuttled inside. Today I was working in the patio & thought, oh yeah. Here you go, mickthecactus ~

Mick, would you mind IDing this cactus, please? It's not my picture, but my best guess is Mammillaria geminispina. Thank you!

I’ve sent the picture to a friend with a huge cactus collection. Neither of us think it’s geminispina. He suggests microthele.
It’s a lovely plant whatever it is.

I'm so sorry. Waking up feeling crappy is the pits. I saw in the other thread that you were out in the vegetable patch today, too -- good for you! I hope Mrs. Cactus is starting to feel better.
