I think swans have very little meat - and I have heard it doesn't have a very nice flavour.
At a certain time of the year ( maybe more often) Queen Elizabeth's "Counter of The Swans" goes boating on the Thames to take stock of the swans. Pardon me for not giving him his correct title!

Further back down the river the water board have launched their weed cutter ready for the season but a moorhen has immediately made a nest on top of the propellor housing - you can just about see it in this picture-

Mostly they are bathing lugg (with a bit of clothes washing). Some fishing does happen but mainly it is the far side of the trees in the big lakes.
