As some of us Northern Hemisphere people are beginning to revel in the warm summer months, let us not forget that the Southern Hemisphere is sinking into winter. I propose this as a place for people to post their winter photographs, so that we can all go Brrrrrrrr! together. Here are two pictures of Montréal in the dead of winter to start us off.

This was Christmas Eve in Montana, but it also looked like this in April. It even snowed a couple sleety flakes in today's rainshower.

Snow. A 4-letter word.
The pigeons in the park make a great photo, though, and Kimby -- your picture is so magical it almost makes me understand why many people love snow. (shudder)

That old silo is beautiful, Jazz.
imec, is that the Red River or a smaller river?
I actually looked at this thread, much as I loathe winter. I was pleased to see a couple of more typical photos of Montréal neighbourhoods. The snow doesn't stay clean and white for long though. The staves round the trees are to prevent damage from the "chenillettes", little vehicles that clear snow from the sidewalks. There are also huge snowploughs, of course, and big trucks to cart the snow off to store it somewhere.

Sorry, cristina, I didn't answer your question...
It should in fact be ok to walk to Hudson's Bay now, although there have been reports of unsafe ice in the city in the last few days - in fact they have had to close a significant part of the river trail (the city creates a very long trail for skating on the rivers).
