do you know what kind those are, in particular, the second set? Dogwood maybe? Haven't the faintest clue - just stuff growing wild outside the cottage.

Lovely pics. I need to take some more photos, the colors of all the thousands of trees in this area are turning very rustic. Just beautiful.

do you know what kind those are, in particular, the second set? Dogwood maybe? Haven't the faintest clue - just stuff growing wild outside the cottage. They look like cousins of things growing around here. The first is an alder (cousin to the birch) and the second, yes, a dogwood. We had a real bad cold snap after prolonged warm weather, resulting in aborted fall colors and the leaves refusing to fall. They just turned brown and stayed on the trees, even after snow started to fall. The larches, however, have put on their usual pretty autumn show. This is a picture deyana took of a larch in her yard. (I didn't ask her permission, so I hope she doesn't mind.) The ones in the mountains around me are much bigger, like 60 feet tall.

That's fine, Kimby. I was surprised at just how quickly the color changed on that tree.
I do love Autumn around here, it's hard to capture them properly on my camera, but the colors really are breathtaking.

I am posting this in lieu of something from Tucson, because we don't have many trees that look anything like this.

Nice T63! One of the many things I loved about France is the way the plant trees in perfectly straight rows.

That's a wonderful photo, T-63, with the eye drawn to the spot of red in the diminishing perspective. It's lovely, with great framing & feel.
Beautiful capturing of autumn, Casimira. I want to blow up and frame that second one!

I must make sure to take pictures of the pumpkins that appeared in my supermarket today. Even though it is still 100 degrees here. Otherwise, you will need to wait until December to see signs of autumn from me, by which time you all will be on to winter. And this thread will have faded to page two, and I will forget...

Is it already that time of the year again?
I've been seeing on CNN that the temperatures have been quite low for some time now, hovering around 20 in Central Europe.
