No, I live in the UK where it is Autumn - this is what the Spindle tree looks like now - they aren't flowers, they are the pink seed cases. I took these pictures very recently. Here are two more pics of the same little tree, taken this Autumn:

A wonderful glimpse Kerouac! Those two little birds appear to be ( I looked them up in my bird book) Great Sparrows - they fall under the catagory of 'Weavers'. The bird nearest sitting on a grass stem, is the female. Her more flamboyant husband is the fluffy looking one. I guess they are probably a slightly different species in Europe.
Myrt - I want a tree like that! What a beauty.

The marsh grass was full of sparrows gobbling the seeds on them.

Autumn is beautiful and all of your photos are rich and textured. Kerourac, I enjoy your slide shows so much and one day I will do one. The spindle tree is stunning Myrt, its shapes and unexpected colors are lovely. I have never seen anything like it in a tree form.

So much beauty in this thread. That's a classic, subtle autumn scene, Mick.
Cheery, your long views seem like the essence of England to my little Anglophile self. The dancing trees are from a fairytale, as is the wonderfully composed, romantic swan photo.
Myrt, your spindle tree shots against the gold-spangled yard are exotic and exceptionally pretty.
Fabulous color, form and framing, Kerouac, along with the very effective presentation. Maybe it will encourage others to make their own slideshows. They can see how in Image Bank sub-board "Basics".
Gloriously beautiful, Jazz ~~ they set the heart aflame!

Myrt - no photos are humdrum to me - they are all so different to everyone elses! I loved seeing that red chard - long ago I grew a patch of red and also yellow ones but the ordinary green & white seem to do best here.

Those are great, Jazz, but it's almost a shame that autumn in Canada is so associated with the colour red -- the spectrum can be so varied. But since Canada has the reddest of the red, it's quite all right to revel in it. Myrt, those are not humdrum at all! The chard is from another planet.

Ohhhh ~~ I love your angles and colors, Myrt. The smoke tree leaves seen from below reminds me of being a kid. The black current leaf seems to be some fabulous fabric from belle époque haute couture.

Yours in nice, too, Kerouac. I like how it depicts the natural world interacting with the man-made.
