My daughter's senior portrait. Now it's time to start on her younger sister's. A study for portrait of Emma. Didn't get a digital photo of the finished one. Me, kind of, a few years ago. Not a characteristic expression, per my family.

Lola, how wonderful to see these. I have been dying to see more of your work since that one peek you gave us a while back.
I love how the light flows over your daughter and Emma's lively expression. Surely that was your expression as you continuously checked the mirror and transferred what you saw to canvas, right?

Thanks, bixa. You are kind. Emma was a cutie pie.
That would be what I looked like when trying to figure out what I looked like.

Nice lola! Is the one of you just a painting or some sort of clever adaptation of a photograph? There's something about it that looks too real for paint - I really like it.

Thank you for letting us see your work, lola. That is definitely a calculating gaze in the last portrait.

I like them. Your first daughter, beautiful. Her younger sister, mysterious. The final portrait, "Me, kind of, a few years ago"....by far, the most intriguing.

Wait a minute - YOU painted these?! I didn't pick that up on the first read. I am in awe - I've always wished I could draw or paint.

Thank you for sharing these with us lola. Yes,there is a "calculating" look going on there in your self portrait, not too unlike your online persona (to me) if I may be so presumptuous. Beautiful work.

to all. Emma's the younger daughter of my husband's birding buddy. I traded a portrait of his older girl for his help remodeling the kitchen, and the final one of Emma for help on a new front porch. If only he had more kids we'd be looking really good around here. Jazz, thanks for preferring the self portrait. It's up on a guest room shelf now, semi banished by the family aesthetics police. Maybe I'll do another and make myself look more jolly. I'd like to be a tad calculating; it has a "soap opera anti heroine, pushing way to the top" sound.

I see a resemblance to Emma Thompson in your self portrait.

Thanks, casimira. Bear in mind that's not what I look like; it's how I thought I looked a few years ago.

Please note that I meant a young Emma Thompson in saying that.
