Pending demolition, the current buildings are not really being maintained in pristeen condition.

How do the citizens feel about the cost involved in this kind of tearing down and rebuilding?

kerouac...#159 is forum des halles? Wow it is in disrepair. Are they tearing down the entire complex? I saw the entries for replacements but that was a few years ago and many layers of politics also.

Yes, they will tear down all of the buildings on the surface, and they will also be destroying most of the park (and then replanting it).
Bixa, nobody is worried about the expense, because more shops, more revenue, more money money money.

The exhibit must have inspired you ~~ these are wonderful pics! Really super composition in all of them, and fun, too.

Some rather pedestrian images after the last bunch: An interesting attempt to make a large new building look a bit smaller. (My favorite bookstore - half price used books and you get back half of what you paid when you turn them back in, IF you can bear to part with them.)

I just love that hyper-modern picture from Kerouac. And Kimby, those of the Gr Tetons are wonderful, as are all of the European pictures. But the 2nd one in #174 is a true knock-out!

Thanks, bixa. One of my favorites, too. (Debated whether to put it here or bridges, but I have a lot more bridge pictures to post, so put it here.)

I just love that hyper-modern picture from Kerouac. That's the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand, the French national library. It consists of 4 towers in the shape of open books. Kimby, you should come to Europe more often and take more pictures!

Kimby, you should come to Europe more often and take more pictures! I'd love to! BTW, Mr. Kimby takes some of the pictures, and I don't keep track of who took which, but I take most of them...

The three main galleries are big rectangles stacked at completely different angles, but it is very obvious that the angles were chosen with very specific views in mind at each end.
I think it is safe to say that it is highly unlikely that the city of Metz will issue any new building permits that could mess up the view.
(Of course I had to pay those people to stand in the places that I had selected.)

The two of you really produced some fine photos that are also snoitcelfer. I gotta say, though, that #176 is just outstanding in so many ways.
