No telling which "life" he or she is on,the cat could well outlive her.

We (to be honest, Mrs Faz) have spent hours/days/weeks about finding a home for this cat. In the end we have found a mad woman who seems not to be able to resist a cat in distress (she apparently has lots) Provided we can find the cat tomorrow morning and get her into a travelling basket we only have an hour's pathetic miaows as we transport her to her new residence.

I just read these messages -- to my husband's despair I would have offered to take your cat, even though we are often away. I took think it's a male because of it's colour. I have always wanted a ginger cat because of The Church Cat books.

If the food is of good quality, I think the cat will stay at the new home -- if it gets along with the other cats.

I don't think cats stay somewhere only for the food -- they stay because they like it there.

We lured the cat easily this morning and transported it in a borrowed box to somewhere south of Cahors. The woman who accepted it has a LOT of animals in distress - abandoned (as ours was), injured, even wild. She has many cats, some dogs and an owl. She has put the cat in its own caged area so she can assess it foir a few days. Then she will post it on her website to see if anyone is interested. If no one wants the cat then it will join the many that roam around her garden (and for all I know her house). If the cat decides the place is not fer her she will probably paw it back here. Then we will dismay bjd's husband by offering this feline beauty to her.
Mrs Faz's (ex) brother-in-law had a flat in London and a house down in Kent where he has a clinic (he is a doctor who specialises in addiction). The cat used to accompany him back to London but obviously didn't approve. The cat disappeared - and reappeared 5 months later at his house near the clinic.

Maybe the cat was an addict. I feel badly about this cat being in a caged area after being free to roam in bucolic environment. Some of these people who 'collect" animals really do mean well ,but often times,in my experience ,they seem to get in over their head at the expense of the animals well being. Hope it works out for everyone.

www.secondechance.org/refuge/show/id/712Casimira, give it a little thought before you pass hasty judgement. The cat has sheltered quarters plus a small outside yard. It is caged (including the top) because otherwise there is the risk the animal will escape. This woman (well qualified and an investigating officer of the Society for the Protection of Animals) needs to be able to assess the animals brought in to make certain they introduce no diseases. Her refuge is well out in the country and once the cat we brought in has been judged clean and not infected she will have plenty of bucolic environment to roam in.

I sincerely apologize. In the first post you made mention of a "mad" woman and it immediately brought to mind a woman in my neighborhood years ago who really did mean well and well there's no point in going there. I was quick to judge and should have been more thoughtful.

That's OK, Casi. I used the word "mad" very loosely and Mrs Faz is of your opinion I shouldn't have used it. It seemed to me - not having met her - that she might be like one of those dotty English ladies of a certain ago who leave their fortunes to cats' homes. Having met her I can say she is nothing like that. She is a powerful woman who stands no nonsense. Having inspected another rescue place she was instrumental in having it closed. We noticed a car by her house with a Geneva numberplate so maybe she is Swiss. The Swiss are generally organised and efficient (shame about Swissair going belly up) and I am confident she is the same.

It sounds like you found a really good place. Did you just ask around or did you make a search on the internet to find it?
Maybe we can all find a cage to lock up the people who abandoned that cat if we work together.

Mrs Faz has just joined a choir in Salviac and had her first rehearsal on Tuesday. She asked everybody there and somebody came up with the name of a town that had this refuge nearby (8 kms away). She googled the town, cat, refuge and got the website.
A cage for the owners who abandoned it would be excellent. They lied to us as well as abandoning the cat. Indeed we find they have lied about a number of things here.

I hope they didn't lie about septic tanks and other things that you can never see until it is too late.

Oh...I'm so upset by this thread. It's awful that the cat lost his home. I'm an asthmatic but I've always had a cat regardless. OMG - what a beautiful cat that is...I do hope he returns to your house and that kind Bjd will have him. Oh, I'm off to weep.

I'm relieved about the cat and the catlady. The driving force behind the big Largo Argentina cat shelter in Rome was an Austrian woman who died recently. They are well organised for finding homes for adoptable cats, and that friendly, healthy, pretty ginger cat is most adoptable.
Am a bit concerned about "vices cachés" though I presume you had the house inspected beforehand. Such scum...

It is really nice that you found so many responsible human beings to help you rehome this cat, Baz.

That won't console spindrift. (Brigitte Bardot lives in Saint Tropez.)True. But for someone who lives in Canada, St Trop is like just living round the corner. Oh, is BB still there? I thought she was tired first of all of the trendies then of the hordes.
